Value of a Small User Reg

I think the price of the knife is very fair. I picked one up awhile back for $300. It had double studs to boot. The blade is in excellent shape, while the handle is very worn. Its in perfect shape otherwise. A trip to the spa and it will be like new. Mine also has the box and BD Card.

As for shipping and insurance, delivery confirmation, paypal fees and all that, its best to just add it into the price. People wanna pay ONE price, they don't wanna see all the little add-ons. I have sold on the forums and ebay for years and have done a lot better over the recent years by doing so. I notice now the big thing on the forums is " Net To Me ". Just freakin put what you want... Total. Some want 2,3,4% paypal. Make up your mind. Also, never go the paypal Gift option. If I buy a knife and it gets lost, the buyer says he sent it but doesnt, I am OUT. So unless people wanna gamble with $400+ knives, just don't do it. On another popular forum, the " Gift Option " is banned. I would like to see that here as well to avoid the worry part of it, especially if its someone you don't know or has very limited posts. Luckily on this forum, most of the people I deal with are in our little CRK family and have sold back and forth for years.

there is one thing that strikes odd about your seb if it's an '04. So the fact that there are no papers, and this little thing makes me think you have one that was tinkered with, or it's not an "'04" persay.

What strikes you odd about it?

Nyef--thanks for the input. You are one of the "wise old owls" of the family and your opinion is valued.

Price isn't bad but considering i picked up a large enigma for 280 in almost mint conditon just a reprofile it might be a little high also the prices on the bay have been a little low lately

Thanks for the input. There have been a couple of posts about purchasing 21's on the cheap, but I have to assume the more scarce Regular profile is worth more than ones that are readily available on the shelf.

I appreciate all the good input--hopefully there are others who will also find value in this thread and that it is more widely applicable than just for my particular sale.

Paypal requires signature confirmation for seller protection on anything over $250.
The price seems ok until you see the sharpened blade, I agree the spa would be worthwhile.

I think people get scarred when they see a CRK with no box or papers. The blade is pretty well used on it to. Does anyone know if Chris will replace the regular profile blades anymore? Maybe thats a concern as well but im not sure. I think it will sell seeing as it is a regular and there pretty sought after.

Kenny--you are right about the box and papers--I almost exclusively buy them only if the have the box and papers. CRK will replace Reg blades, but only in extreme cases as they are running low on stock of them. As far as this blade goes, it still has tons of life left--if you look at the ricasso you will see that it is only very slightly worn. When comparing this blade to a NIB small Reg I have it is a negligible amount of blade that has been sharpened away.

Magnum--yes, the tip is quite scratched up and it may help if I post a few other pics showing the blade a little better. It's actually a decent sharpening done on it, but the reflections make it hard to tell.

This may help. I look over any expensive knife that doesn't include insurance in the total price.
I also overlook any knife at any price if there are any fee's added on no matter how good the deal.

Your price looks good IMO. If I didn't already have a small Regular I would give that.

Thanks for the input. I am going to edit my ad and include insurance, etc.

It's nice to have all the goodies with a CRK, but not a deal-breaker for me if it's a user. Only one I ever sold was for $270 with no box or card. If you aren't in a rush, let it ride for a bit.

When I sell I always put a flat price that includes everything. Makes it easier to digest for some and I know I like it as well.

Thanks. I took yours, and the others' advice and edited my ad to include everything in one price.

Sigh.... Well, I hope at a minimum we all learned something worthwhile from this thread--I know I did! After all that, I have decided to close the sale and keep it. I admit it--I am emotionally attached to it. Imagine that. Silly. Attached to a couple pieces of metal. I had a few offers on it and a coue potential trades, but in the end I decided to keep it and use it.

I really do appreciate everyone's input and advice. Next time I go to sell a blade I feel like I will be better prepared.

MMAR don't feel bad, I had 2 mnandis up for trade then sale last weekend and pulled the thread within a few hours. After a cpl offers I realized I couldn't get rid of mine either.

Can I just get one point clarified: the seller pays the PP fee, right? So if a seller offers to sell a knife for $300, I send him $300 via PP and he pays the fee, right? Sometimes the fee is not mentioned in a sale. I haven't done much buying with PP and just want to be sure. When the seller says "net to me" he means he pays the fee?

LDB--The way Paypal is set up is that whoever is receiving the money pays the fee. However, when a seller says "net to me" they are asking the buyer to include an additional percentage of money to be sent so that they receive the full amount and not the amount minus Paypal fees. Make sense?

DC--thanks for the support. It's good to know that I am not the only one who gets emotionally attached to inanimate objects.
