Makes sense, but how do you know exactly how much more to pay - do you have to calculate? The seller should give a bottom line fee, that includes everything, that the buyer either accepts or not. In my opinion. Sorry to hijack the thread.

LDB--The way Paypal is set up is that whoever is receiving the money pays the fee. However, when a seller says "net to me" they are asking the buyer to include an additional percentage of money to be sent so that they receive the full amount and not the amount minus Paypal fees. Make sense?

No Hijacking here my friend--this thread ended up being an exercise in proper knife sales tactics anyway!

One of the points brought up in this thread was that a lot of buyers prefer a "one price" deal rather than price + shipping + insurance + paypal fees + duties + taxes + franchise fees, et al. In the case of the Paypal fees, some sellers will say something to the effect of $100 +3%, rather than just say $103.

Thank you. I've learned a lot from this thread.

MMAR, glad you decided to keep that one, I didn't need the temptation I was feeling. :o

I say "net to me" to give the buyer the option of paying me with gift if they feel comfortable doing that. I know it's a controversial subject, but I feel like I'm giving them the option to save a little money.

I don't see why any one wouldn't just put a "to your door price" including everything. I always do that and have yet to have any grumbles. I will alter the price of international postage over domestic of course but generally people buying from me are over seas and not in Taiwan so the original price stands any way. You guys here at this forum have a much bigger cutomer base in the US and the buyer will no doubt be from the US so just list it with domestic, insured, recorded delivery, or what ever you use in the US, in the price and be done with it.
Things like PayPal fees are the sellers problem and not to be loaded onto the buyer, also signatures and postal insurance are there to protect you not the buyer. The buyer is protected by the sale that you made to them. I realise that is perhaps a rather romantic way of thinking and unfortunately one only needs to skim the GB&U and exchange to see how often people don't stand behind their word, add PP fees, charge for insurance they never buy etc. etc. etc. I personally feel one should always do their best to be straight up and not just bump people because every one else does it, easier said than done these days it seems....

Agreed My Friend. I have always to the best of my knowledge had that ONE Price. Knife, USPS Priority, DC, Insurance, Paypal Fees. Its all one price. What I have done recently, is that I have had people PM me and say they dont use paypal, and only use a USPS Portal Money Orders, so what I do in return is knock the fees off the Total. Certainly not going to charge them paypal fees that arn't there. So I have been putting that in the listing. Price With Paypal, Price with USPS Postal MO. They still get the USPS Priority, DC, Insurance. Lately, USPS has Included Delivery Confirmation in the USPS Priority Price. I always get insurance so the buyer has a tracking # to go on. I am sure I am like the rest that when a CRK is inbound, we are checking the Tracking info several times a day....lol.
