Vaquero Adventure

If anyone was there you could have been charged with brandishing a weapon. Be more responsible.

If anyone was there other than the two people who were there?
If no one is being threatened, it is not brandishing.
Intent...the law cares about intent.

In my jurisdiction the mask would have made the activity a felony.

Glad I don't live where you are.

Exactly right, stabman. Even weapons strict California agrees.

Brandishing a Weapon Definition. Under California Penal Code 417, it is unlawful for you to draw or exhibit a deadly weapon in a rude, angry, or threatening way in the presence of another person and not in self defense or in defense of someone.

I bet Stabman probably acted like he was normal and belonged there and no one cared. There was no one there with an incentive to overreact and so no one did.

Nice photos.

You're a braver man than me. Personally, I wouldn't go near any of the homeless encampments in anything less than a hazmat suit here in San Diego, due to the big Hepatitis A outbreak among the homeless.

Jim

It's getting worse here too now with the opioid epidemic.
Went on a mission to hand out supplies to homeless people in Toronto this summer; guy overdosed on heroin laced with Fentanyl. Found him in the bathroom when we went to buy burgers to hand out.
He died. :(

Between the diseases and drug overdoses, being homeless isn't looking all that fun these days.

Yep.

Exactly.
I have gotten good at being able to not freak people out.
If you want to do odd things, you must get good at seeming normal while being odd.
It is a strange talent. :D

I strongly support the campaign in Toronto to give out Naloxone kits. Now if only people were smart and didn't use alone And had the kit handy.

I had the Naloxone kit with me (free from Shopper's Drug Mart).
Cut myself opening the ampule (should have worn gloves for that...).
The needle just touched the skin of the guy's shoulder when the paramedics came in.

Hopefully they make the Naloxone nasal spray more widely available in Canada over the next year or so; they just gave approval for production of a Canadian version a few months ago.

It's becoming more available especially they are giving them away at methadone clinics and homeless shelters.

I wonder how much the nasal spray will work if the overdose victim has already stopped breathing? I must have had the luxury needle kit, my ampules came with little red rubber tips that slipped over the end of the ampules so you wouldn't cut yourself.

The spray is supposed to still absorb through the nasal membrane.

The kit I got came with a rubbery/plastic thing to put over the end of the ampule, but the glass must have been thicker than normal or something. Took a LOT of force to get it to break...and then the glass sliced across my index and middle finger.

There is variation in the kits, as they are provided by different manufacturers (it being a generic drug).
Some have a cap that can be pierced with the provided syringe; that would have been better!

Nice pictorial...it tells a story and it's fun to let my imagination fill in the blanks. :)

Not the standard blade beefcake shots--- nothing wrong with those, BTW...this was just a nice, welcomed change of pace...THANKS!

It makes ANTIFA and their ilk to think twice or to expose their faces.

Interesting post. "ANTIFA and their ilk" have to do with knives how exactly? And to do with that knife in particular?

And maybe you could expand on who "their ilk" is.

Perhaps their ilk is protesters.
We have a no masks while protesting law, put in place after idiotic violence by anarchists...some of whom had knives (see how I included knife-related content? :D).

I don't protest things, so I can do what I like. ;)

This is while carrying three knives (not the Vaquero though, because I got it the next day).

I remember when they let cops have real Harley D's . He looks slightly shocky . Probably his first superhero street theater encounter .

We still have motorcycle cops here too.
I have to admit I'm surprised every time I see a car stop for bicycle cops...I know it's the law and all, but it just looks funny somehow. :D
They're great for going down trails and other place where policing is needed, but motorized vehicles might have trouble getting.
They can also sneak up on people quite quietly, which is handy at times.

He does look slightly surprised in the photo, I must admit.
Was quite friendly though. :)

Walking around wearing a mask and taking photos while pointing a knife at a tent and approaching it seems like it would understandably cause concern for anyone around or anyone passing by. But I ain't disturbed by the photos. If anything it reminds me of Counter Strike. I was originally going to comment saying to wave around the knife as you walk so that you would walk faster, but someone may find that bad advice so yeah.

Cool photos.

Hi! Pics are really cool , definitely something different from my usual photo setting (e.g. food, woods, natural scenery, etc.) :). About the photo shooting “dynamics”, I think all went smooth exactly because you somehow managed to “blend” into this environment, both from an “aesthetical” perspective and from a “behavioural” point of view :D.

Today, I wouldn’t dare to walk into gypsies, illegal immigrants, junkies, homeless, etc. camps/encampments or illegally occupied flats blocks, etc. just for the sake of “having some fun”. Been there, done that when a kid, but that’s another story I'm not going to tell, not even in Prac-Tac :D.

What is very surprising for me instead are the pics with Police Officer and outside the Police Station . Round here going around dressed up like that would be very dangerous! The Balaklava but specially the... bullet proof vest (?), is sooo terrorist outfit :p that any LEO would jump on you before even letting you say something. A curiosity: here to be able to buy a bullet proof vest you need either to proof you’re a LEO or show very solid credentials as a private security operator of a certain level. Are you in the field or it’s legislation so relaxed in Canada in this respect? Thanks! Interesting post!

In all Canadian provinces except for British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta, it is legal to wear and to purchase body armor such as ballistic vests (this regulations applies only to ballistic vests above the NIJ level III). Nova Scotia has passed the legislation but is not yet in force.Sep 21, 2016
