So as you all know by now I am somewhat obsessed with the Umnumzaan.. No really!! I just added a couple more to my collection (the last one on the fur is on the way) :D So, here are eight examples of the Umnumzaan. All are different. And believe it or not I am still looking for a couple more variations. (Not to mention the Prototype).
Thanks for looking!!
All the best, Dave

You mean there are more? :D

I guess I didn't see any modern Zaans in the collection. So is that the ones you are missing plus the prototype?

Very nice Zaan collection Zaan Man!

Dave, that is a nice collection my friend.

But I guess I failed the 8th grade too. Cuz I only see 7 variations in the pics. Or it could be my eyes playing tricks on me...:D

Thank You Cereal_killer! Actually the earliest Umnumzaans do not have the over travel stop. It is a feature added to the Umnumzaan in 2011 because some owners of the knife did not understand that the Umnumzaan does not open with the same motion as the Sebenza and some in an efferot to make the knife easier to open over extended the lock bar to "loosen up the detent". The first OST's were unmarked (forth from the top in photos) and then the CRK logo was added shortly after. Thank you very much for your question and interest in "This Thing of Ours"
From the Maker (Chris Reeve):
· Any of our folding knives, assembled correctly, will open and close smoothly. Remember that they are intended as robust, working knives and they will not feel the same as many other folding knives. When opening a Sebenza or Mnandi, use a sideways, sweeping motion with the side of your thumb against the lug. The Umnumzaan opens by pushing the lug forward, parallel with the handle, with the top of your thumb
.

Great collection as always! When/why did they stop using the OTS?

There are of course only seven knives in the "Group" picture.. so no your math is not in question Andre. The eighth varation is the last picture which is inbound. Wilson Combat Star-Tac. :D

Yes grasshopper.. there are at least four more variations of the Umnumzaan not counting the Prototype. And most likely others that I have not discovered!! :D
Thanks Steve!!
All the best, Dave
Make that three more variations.. Thanks Anthony!!:D

Thanks lemmuh!! With the two I have inbound I will have a Baseball Team!! :D But in order for the collection to be complete I think I am working on an NFL lineup.. and the Captain of the team will be my Grail the Prototype 1/20. Someday!! "God willing and the river don't rise"
All the best, Dave

Sweet line up!

You'll have to double that collection to include the ones with rolling and non-rolling balls! :)

Truly Dave.....so awesome to see them all in one photo. You are a master collector, and that's a cool thing to be in my books!

Thank you for the kind words brother! If I only had your mechanical skills It would make it even more enjoyable! !

Thanks link2derek!! Only one.. but a very nice one!! I actually don't have one like yours in the original version! (only in the Star-Tac) I will test my Umnumzaan knowledge and take a stab at it.. Your Umnumzaan is from early 2010 maybe late 2009 with the first noticeable change. Change in the rear spacer screw (fastener) from old style with no screw head on the lock bar side to the current style with screw head on both sides. This change was of course made across the entire CRK line up. I also believe it came in the "new" style coffin shaped card board box. ;)
Thanks for sharing your Zaan!!

Very nice collection, Dave! Only one here - old standard version:

Professor Zann Man shares his Zaan knowledge again. :D

How about it link2derek, is the professor correct? :)

Nice collection.

Only two here - old school in S30V and just picked up a new startac.

Not sure why I waited so long for a startac - it's a prime piece.

Well the "Man of Many Zaans" is at it again. Not only do we get to see a beautiful line up but, the professor (even with 3 years in the 8th grade he is still a professor) give us home work on Sunday, find the different Zaans. Thanks Dave I am going to break out my two, 09 and 11 and see if I can find any differences.
