it is not always windy and cold every time that I light a fire, how abou So I carry a couple of bic lighters, for their convenience and low cost, and to save wear/consumption of the other firestarters. I carry a Campmor Inc, Nuwick can-candle, so that all I really have to do is ignite one wick, which is quite easy to do with either the magnesium bar or the small magnifying glass. In case of really bad conditions, I have a Campmor matchcase, which is also a compass and whistle, full of Vasolined cotton balls. They ignite easily with the magnesium bar, even one handed, and burn hot for over 1 minute. I fail to see where lighting a fire a few minutes more quickly is going to help much. you either need shelter and /or a reflector, or you need fire all around you, if you are cold/wet, and it's windy.
