Say I buy a knife for $100 using paypal. Do they freeze that amount in the account for a certain length of time?

I'm curious as I'm reaching my $2000 limit and I'll need to get verified.

I've heard horror stories about them with bank accounts and such.I would never give them any primary banking info.I have alway's used a account just for Paypal.However,I did have a problem with them overdrafting a couple times when I requested Credit Card transfers costing me some fee's.
