Vernal Equinox - Washboard Sharpening Kit Giveaway!

Hello all, have been working on a base for the Washboard that will do a better job of holding tight to the paper or lapping film. I normally just put a good crease in the paper and fold it hard. Stays put very well, but when working with lapping film I have to use tape or tacks and that's no fun. Have noticed that with the diamond lapping films, there's a big price difference between the 6" sheets and larger stuff, so the bases can hold substrates down to 6". I also like to have a little clearance even when working off the edge of a counter, so combined the two to make a stand/paper holder downer set-up. As the pics show it can also be used as an improvised guide should one need extra help while learning freehand. On an 8" board, two bases make a 15* angle, one base makes a 10. This not an intentional aspect of the design, but happened to work out that way - if you hold the blade at 0* and keep it perpendicular to the board, it works very well.

This board had a mishap on the router table and is 7 1/4" while the usual is just a hair under 8", so decided to do a give away. Because its a bit shorter, the angle made by the bases is closer to 11 and 16 respectively should you want to use them as a guide, and is easy enough to shim the lower end for more acute angles.

I'm still working out the production and pricing etc to make this a standard piece of the kit and will update the sale listing as soon as I nail it down.

The giveaway will be the entire kit - the board with bases, 320 and 600 grit wet/dry, white and grey compounds, and the manual. I'll cover the shipping to the lower 48, if the winner is outside they'll need to cover the extra shipping beyond the first $6.

Winner to be announced on the 20th - name pulled from hat. Current owners should refrain from entering. For more information about the Washboard please visit the sale thread linked through my signature.

An "I'm In" response gets your name in the hat.
