If you like AOs, I'd suggest a Kershaw Oso-Sweet or Volt II, depending on your blade style choice.

Boker excaliber, cold steel broken skull, both extremely light with long blades

Boker is 3.5" blade, 2.5oz for $ 115
Cold steel is 4.0" blade, 3.5oz for $80

The Kershaw Leek is one of the best folding knives, or at least knife designs, ever produced in my humble opinion.

Makes a great lightweight carry. I'm partial to the liner lock variants, but all are good.

My main lightweight EDC clip knives are the ZT 0450CF, Delica 4, Rat 2 and KaBar Dozier Folder. Despite being the cheapest, the Kabar is actually carried more than any of them when in shorts. Just really light and if I lose it, I can pick another one up for $20.

Spyderco Manix2 Lightweight (a little different than the Delica) 3oz
Benchmade 940 (aluminum/CF/G10 scales all under 3oz)
Benchmade Griptilian - 3.25oz
Kershaw Skyline - 2.5oz

I use a PM2 with shorts at 3.75oz.

All USA made too if that matters ;)

Cold steel finn wolf. I know cold steel gets a bad rap but; light weight (< 3.5 oz), tough, good lock (triad), decent steel (AUS 8A), scandi grind, inexpensive (<$40 street)... It hits all the right notes.

Ever try one of the Spyderco Salt series, very light. I carry mine (Pac Salt) daily and forget it's there. Several variants in different sizes.

Boker Urban Trapper.
You can go Plain Ti, CF, or G10 slabs and stainless steel on bearings for corrosion resistant materials all the way around.

The bucklite max series is an excellent series of lightweight American made knives in the 20$ range. My medium size 482 is awesome for 20$ out the door and I have no doubt that the small version will be just as good.
There are other options, but for the price other than the buck bantam series which is second to the bucklite max series. ( the ka-bar dozier may be similar in price ) . they just won't be American made, which isn't the biggest deal but why would you not go American when you can 👍

Military in any of its flavors should meet your needs. I live in S Florida and have carried one in any manner of dress for years.

Al Mar ultralight. Eagle, Falcon or Hawk. Can't tell it's there even in the lightest shorts. Well made.

The Falcon is a little over 3".
