Very light edc knife 3-4 inch long with clip for summer carry?

For a very affordable and light weight knife check out the Kershaw Chill. I am not a fan of the 8cr steel but the design is so good I keep it around anyway. I found that if sharpen the Chill to a toothy edge rather than a polished hair shaving edge it holds up much better.
Also, the Spyderco UKPK is a great light weight carry....if the slip joint thing doesn't bother you.

I saw this knife the other day and thought it was a great design. Reminds me of the ZT0450 a little bit.

Swiss Army Knife.

OH Sentinel Clip, that is. Its not a knife usually considered for a regular folder, but it is one of the lightest in it class and deceptively thin, about the same handle size (and blade size) to a Griptilian, a tad thinner all around.

No, it cant be flicked open, but who cares. Guided opening works today just like yesterday.

Another great thing about it is the Victorinox shield which automatically turns you into a good guy.

I never had a knife pull my shorts down so I never looked for a particularly "light" knife. The mini barrage isn't necessarily super light but it's a great edc knife in G10 with a good steel. It's 4" closed and weighs about 3 1/2 ounces. Rugged solid knife that feels great in the hand. You won't regret a Benchmade.

+1 for the KaBar Dozier and Kershaw Skyline. I have both and they are solid lightweight knives. Also got the Pops Custom clip for the Skyline, and it now rides very deep in my pocket.

Manix2 Light Weight (obviously)

I've got the Manix 2 lightweight in BD1 (around $80 new) and can totally forget I have it tucked in the waistband of nylon basketball-type shorts. Absolutely love the knife. It's either that or a vg-10 delica when it's hot out.

Though my griptillian isn't really much heavier than the manix at all, it feels like a world of difference to me to carry it

I usually carry a Spyderco PM2 in the front of my running shorts when pounding out the miles. I had in the past a Delica 4, nice knife, lightweight and very handy but sold it because I do not care for lock back knives. YMMV.

Recently I traded for a Sage 2, a knife that I've been looking at, for quite some time. EXCELLENT carry knife! S30V steel, frame lock, and very lightweight for the design.

When I put it in my front waistband, I don't know it's there, yet the very well designed blade can be deployed rapidly and the knife is rock solid.

The Sage 2 is my recommendation for a very lightweight, strong and excellent knife, especially for summer carry.

I own both the broker urban trapper and the 0450cf. Both are awesome lightweight knives though I don't trust the trapper with anything more "heavy duty" than cutting cardboard, opening packages, normal everyday stuff. Good luck!

Check out the HK Nitrous Blitz. 3.4" blade, titanium liners, 2.7 oz. Made by Benchmade. In my pocket (shorts) as I type this.

Another vote for the Boker Urban Trapper, it is nice a sub 2oz light duty ball bearing flipper with a deep carry clip.

Benchmade 531/530 1.88 ounces, but still quality and a 3.25" blade

I couldn't ask for more from my BM 531. It's the easy choice for light weight or slim type carry. It's perfect for dress slacks (daily use) and for shorts (weekend use).

+1 for the Benchmade 531

+1 for the 530/531.

I have BM 530,and its light knife, will probably get eagle ultralight. Also will chect Bucklite max.

↑ What they said. You can't go wrong with a Benchmade 531.. My all-time favorite knife. Especially for hot summer days in chinos and flip-flops..

You could go standard with the 154CM option, or check out the 531-1501 for some S30V.. There's always Gold Class versions as well..

First post newbie opinion. I have 2 Kershaw Skylines enroute. I opted for the carbon fiber black S30V, $99 each (1760S30VBCF). Would love to order the Benchmade Valet @ $180 with 2.96" blade length, M390 steel and 2.18 oz. but also have a Benchmade 581 in M390 coming so the Valet will have to wait. I've been carrying a Kershaw Leek serrated for years. I should have got the plain blade.

It really depends on what you consider affordable. I recommend the Kershaw Leek, Kershaw Skyline, Benchmade Griptilian, Benchmade Mini Griptilian, Spyderco Manix 2 LW, Spyderco Sage Series.

The Benchmade 940 is probably the grail of EDC knives for a lot of people because it's so slim and light that it just disappears in your pocket. This is not a cheap knife though at $170-$270 depending on which version you get.
