Victorinox Scales

I'm sorry, I don't have anything to show you right now:( But as soon as my micarta arrives, I promise I'll have some production grade pieces done and pictured.

Coldfusion--

Everyone knows that cold fusion is too good to be true. It just doesn't work! BUT-- I'll believe you anyway. I sure want to believe you. If you pull this off, and can offer it for your very reasonable prices, you're going to make a lot of money. You'll certainly get some of mine. I wish you well and look forward to doing business with you. You need a better name, though, than one that sounds like a hoax.

Scott

This name is from my other business, Cold Fusion Racing.

The Micarta FINALLY came today. 4 sheets of black linen type. I should be able to cut some scales tomorrow. How about half of the sheet plus style, half regular 91mm?

This WILL happen. I've already invested a lot of time into it, and I won't let it just die out. Things may take a little longer then planned, but in the end it's all worth it.

Coldfusion,

I really didn't mean anything by my comments about your name. I just thought it was kind of a funny one for someone who was promising something that seems too good to be true. I can't wait til you're up and running. You've got my mind racing with all the possiblilities.

I know you're in the beginning stages with this, but it seems to me, that with the right marketing, that this could be a relatively huge business for you. I'm wondering if you plan to expand beyond SAKs? I'd love a micarta Griptilian, and I know I'm not alone on this one.

Wishing you all the best,

Scott

All in fun Scott:)

I would definitely be interested in expanding if all goes well. The only thing to consider is that I can't spread myself too thin. Each handle design requires a new holding jig and a lot of programming.

Many thanks,
Andrew

The first pair of micarta ones are done! They came out really nice, and I was pleased with how easily the material machined. Ya'll are going to love them. Sadly however, I can't find my digital camera cable. If you guys promise not to form an angry mob and break down my door, I'll go to radio shack and get a new one.

I also got the ironwood today. The quality of the wood looks good. Now I just need to slice it into thin scales.

ColdFusion - You're the man. . .include me in too.
Can you do some scales in Cocobolo wood?
I'd order 91mm and 84mm both.

I am very interested in the Titanium and maybe jigged bone. Red G10, as a future run, would be awesome! I need to go research which models are what length to verify which sizes I need. Titanium scales on my Cybertool would be sweet! :D

Coldfusion,

just to wish you the very best of luck in your venture.

I believe there is a big potential market out there for what you plan. You obviously have the skills...

I have been planning to experiment with making some scales out of hardwoods... just got a load of different hardwood scraps from a friend who does a lot of wood turning and has cut me some stock for making SAK scales:
I have Ebony, Yew, Bubinga, Ash, London Plane, Spalted Beech.

I plan to start off repairing an old Stockman folder whose plastic scales fell off.

I will let you know how it works out. I will have to take it slowly, because I plan to do it all by hand, without machines.

It could take some time.
