If hitting pause makes me an expert than I must be one. That's all it took to see you came close on the last hack or two. That's all it took to see how high up you were on the knife while stabbing. 100 percent? You were stabbing weakly. You can be insulted or argumentative all you want but this was just stupid. I was not trying to be insulting or rude, but if you want to take it that way so be it. It wasn't a good test. It isn't repeatable. I haven't seen any bravo 1 oiled up and stabbed with. Because it's a stupid argument to begin with. And frankly you are trying to prove smooth cheap plastic isn't an issue because the handle design is good? I'm betting you could do the same test with one of those scrappy plastic scandi knives with the finger guard. What would that prove?I guess you happen to be an expert at video analysis... right? Dude... I never go 100% force. EVER!!! I admit AGAIN this was unsafe, but it was effective. Just accept it.

I could repeat it wth many knives, but the point was already proved. You don't understand the point as you are not familiar with the long-standing notion about grivory being too slick. He heard an anecdote, he set out to test that anecdote, test priced anecdote was at least feasible, test succeeded.
Did you not listen to the video? He explained the whole thing for you in complete detail if you had payed attention.
Like I said put the oil on a woman better test
Rick, you're video proved the point you were trying to make.
If Grivory scales are slippery, then making them slippier* will make them slip out of your hands, right?...
So often we hear, "Grivory scales are slippery."
In all actuallity, the Grivory scales do feel slippery, but it's not slippery when in use.
Let me explain. My hands sweat a lot. While in use the slick Grivory never get's slippery in my hands. Micarta does. The Grivory does not. It feels locked in and secure. I've said this a few times on the forums here.
So while Grivory may feel slippery...it's not actually slippery. Lol
Not sure what's up with all the haters.
They must stab stuff a lot harder than you do...with industrial lubricants...
Seriously guys, Rick made a video to show you how "slippery" Grivory really is.
It's entertainment! It's a different look at knife testing.
Take it for what it is. No need to get upset. Lol
*not sure if slippier is a real word.
in practical nature, if the grips were that awful, Rick would be sporting a trip to the ER
was he nervous? i hope so
would he do this again, say, "dry", and measure his stabs, and then do it "wet" and measure, and provide conrete data with six digits of precision? maybe
if he doesn't? so what. if a knife can do that, oiled and wet, it probably isn't "that slippery" and is probably "pretty safe" dry.
he was taking a "known legend" and he tried it. good for him.
if someone thinks they can stab harder? i want to see it. then do it oiled. otherwise, we value your opinion, such as it is
keep the innuendo at home, thanks. i don't want to close a good fun thread because of asshats, or ban anyone for that matter.
Not a hater or upset. I personally think the slippery handle arguement is stupid to begin with. That said his reverse grip stabs with the pinkie against the guard were real stabs. Into the tree traditional grip were not. I'm simply calling foul. They were not(and under those conditions probably shouldn't be) "real" stabs. And on the 5th stab you can see his hand was climbing up for disaster. As well as the chops, more force, at about 5:09 on the final chop his hand has slipped badly. Another swing, or a couple of more stabs and game over. I am just pointing out his point was only proven because he rigged it to be. He had to stop after 5 stabs. He came close on the last chop. Do I hate beckers, no. Do I hate ka bar, no. Do I like detachable handles, no. He knows he was slipping. He knows he didn't stop because his point was proven. He stopped because he almost proved the other side was correct. Again stupid arguement to begin with. Moras are plastic or painted red. Bark rivers are intentionally smooth.Rick, you're video proved the point you were trying to make.

Dude, you came at me with your crap. If you want to go up against me, then YOU bring it. I don't even know how you'd want to go about this, anyways. Only way to do it is through video, and I already know I have critics. How about you do your thing by showing off your purchases, and I'll do mine by showcasing skills. But, if you want to toe the line... I'm standing on it. Most likely with my RBK.
