Viktim has arrived

I really didn't think the knife would make it this far without somebody breaking it.

I was wrong!

When I was hammering it into a tree point first, i expected at least "some" sort of feedback from the blade -- wood chip out of the handle, bend, tip deformation, something -- but all it did was vibrate and drive in deeper.

The last of my pics. Made a little Brussels sprouts dish with the Viktim tonight. Super delicious. Also sliced up some veal for a salad I'll eat later. For being a bit thick, it sliced pretty well. A couple comparison pics with my Phoenix. That knife is why I hesitate to order a Victim-- I use my Phoenix a ton and worry I won't if a new JK comes into the house!

Hi Rockywolf -

Your brussel sprouts and sausage looks good - I love brussel sprouts myself.

The viKtim is simply a way to find the limits of John's blades without having to beat on your pride and joy.

After having played with the viKtim, I now know that there is virtually nothing that I will do to my JK's that will harm them appreciably.

Thank you for keeping us updated on your activities with the viKtim and the great review of the knifes ruggedness and usefulness.

best

It looks like this one will be one of the rarer JK`s, there are only going to be three of them.

I'm hoping to get a chance to use this one before I think about that limited run, also hoping your order list stretches to September by then, :D

Man I'm really looking forward to getting mine. What a good lookin knife- and this passaround has been such a great endorsement. Thanks for all the photos and reports everyone.

I`m hoping the list stretches a bit too, it seems to have stopped for now.

This is the list for the ViKtim

#1 Tahts-a-dats-ago (walnut)
#2 mbeebe (oak)
#3 tundratrader (green canvas micarta)maybe orange G10

It will be even rarer than this - since it is the first knife from a passaround that actually generated an order. ;P

You are (almost) absolutely correct! I know this guy who ordered a Cutlass, but it was not from one of my passarounds.:D

I was going to say something about that.:D
We still need to see the video of Pirate John swinging his cutlass.:D

What are the exact specs on this knife again. I know it should be easily located in the forum, but I just couldn't find them. also, How did the knife get to be named "viktim?"

Dan

Here you go. mqqn named it ViKtim (victim) because of all the torture it was going to receive.

Specs:
9 1/2" overall length
5" blade
1/8" O1 tool steel
Oak handle

How should you treat the knife? Treat it like it belongs to your ex wife`s new boyfriend, you know the kind, your 21 year old pool boy.

Thanks for the info John! only problem, is now I have another JK to add to the list! it almost looks like the Kepheart, with a little more beef to the blade, is that how you see it John?

I see it as more of a reworked Early Style Hunter, with less of a "hump" on the blade.

I am in line with John for a Roach Belly right now, I like the finer. "pointy-er" tip and that curved blade of the RB, I think that will be amazing, but there is something about this one that keeps me staring at the photos. I am thinking that the Roack Belly comes first, and then a Kepheart or Viktim next. Luckily, John doesn't make us choose just one, I think he will allow us to buy as many models as we'd like!
Dan

Hey Rockywolf, or anyone else that has used this knife and a Kephart, which one to get and why?
