Village style AKs. Pix and deal.

Thanks Btice and Stripey357...whacked a few branches last night, having 2 pounds of weight in the blade sure feels good! Yes I kept my apendages clear, will be hacking at waist level till I get used to the curve in the blade. The curve makes it easy to "hit past the object". As we know when punching something you punch through it instead of at it, since the blade is curved the blade hits earlier than a level blade making power hit automatic...very clever design.

CHeck out the safety thread if'n ya haven't yet. Taalks about safe and controlled cutting prinnciples, and addresses the observations you have made on cutting.

Thanks Keith I shall do that!

OK, here is my report as promised...first of all I want to disclose that my parents used to buy me a bag of rocks for presents because I would break any other "toy". Yes I broke the two pound monster. Bent about 4-5 inches and chipped a 3/4" hunk out of the edge. I was cutting 1"-2" juniper branches, cutting right through them until it got messed up.

Now the important part, I did not want to post this until I had a talk with Uncle Bill. Bill got back to me today (Sunday and Fathers Day) within minuets! Said ship it back and he would fix it. I mess around making knives and know unless you do a torture test on every knife one that has not beet heat hardened or tempered properly can slip through. Getting one that slipped through is not important, service is...Bill proved that he is service oriented, he even told me to post my report!

I'll give another report when I get it back...

Trying to stay current. I'll be taking 5 or 6 days off starting the 20th to go back and visit Dad again. Don't want to have the regret, "Wish I'd gone to the trouble to see him more often."
