Definitely a keeper. It's interesting that the blade has such obvious signs of use but the handle looks almost new.

The blade wasn't touched till i got it. The rust you see on it was all the way to the edge so i hogged some off on a crystolon stone and now working on sharpening it.

It looks like the blade was chrome plated. Is that true? With chrome plated blades it was not uncommon to have the exposed edge start a corrosion process that migrated under the chrome plate.

I don't think the blade is plated it says high carbon steel on it, but I could be wrong.

My 1972 Puma 970. I got this from my Grandpa along with some other knives and his old hunting rifle. He is 92 now, and in great health, but I am so thankful to get a few items from him to have for mine, and with the stories they came with. He found this knife on the roadside while walking the dog in the early seventies and used it for decades until he gave it to me in 2020. It’s 50 years old this year! I scrubbed a lot of gunk out of it and lubed it so it opens smoothly and polished the bolsters, but the blade shows its many years against a stone. It’s a lot sharper than it looks! Thanks for letting me share.

My Puma 959 Universal Jagdmesser from 1967.

Hello all
I have a Puma 959 Universal Jagdmesser that has no serial/date numbers on lock knob or r anywhere else. It was my fathers who I believe got it while in Germany in late 50s early 60s. How would I put a date to it without the stamp? These are not images of my knife but it looks the same. I can add images if it helps

Puma started their dating system in 1964. It must have been made before ;)
We would love to see pictures :D

Ill add some as soon as I figure out how ... have them saved to phone but cant seem to find attachment from file option
