Vinyl decals & show banners

You could do that design in black and white vinyl with the red letters reversed out no problem. No need for a laminate over a print and the vinyl will hold up much nicer.

Burton,

You are right. I can do this graphic as a 2-color (black over white)and punch out the red letters and let the paint job on the car show through. I clicked to that this morning, while at work. I sometimes spend too many hours on the computer and get a little "cloudy" in my thought processing. Last night was another prime example of that. :D Thank you for viewing my post and please keep me in mind if you ever find yourself in the market for vinyl work, be it banners, decals, or both. :)

No problem, I am a vinyl slinger also. I have worked in the sign and graphic business for about 10 years now. I am doing mainly design work now, but I do a bunch of printing and some vinyl work. The company I work for has an American LeMans race team and I have to get graphics on 4 cars in the next couple of weeks and also a semi truck and trailer:) They also develop restaurants and I do all the graphics and design work for that.

Wouldn't you lose the centers of letters such as A, D and R? Or is there a trick?

You have a top sheet that goes over the vinyl after it is cut and weeded out.

Phil,

The top sheet that Burton is referring to is "application tape" or "transfer tape". This gets pulled off after the decal is applied to whatever you decide to put it on. You basically would have a 3-layer sticker for 1 color when you receive it: the backing paper, the vinyl decal itself, and the "application tape" (I prefer transparent tape as it makes it much easier to line up multiple colors/layers). In a nutshell:

*CLEAN SURFACE...
*POSITION DECAL...
*TAPE IN PLACE (not always necessary, especially not for smaller decals)...
*PEEL OFF BACKING PAPER...
*APPLY AND "SQUEEGEE" OUT AIR BUBBLES WITH A CREDIT CARD OR
PLASTIC/TEFLON SQUEEGEE...
*PEEL AWAY THE APPLICATION TAPE...
*ADMIRE NEW DECAL! :D

This can be done wet or dry (wet requires a special fluid that is basically a very mild soap and water mixture). All my decals have instructions for a dry application included in them.

BTW: I am still working on your graphic so please bear with me and I'll try to have you something as soon as I can.

Sounds like fun to me! :D The only thing (NOT counting my family) that I like better than working with vinyl is knives. I'm still not sure how my little wife puts up with me sometimes. She tells me I have a 2-track mind: Knives and Vinyl. LOL!

yep. a few more days to think about which and what and how many and I'll email you again. Really good work.

Brian,

Thank you. You'll have a package soon, Sir. I have been crazy busy the last two weeks. I landed three tattoo parlors (two are owned by the same guy and his wife) to do graphics for the storefronts and have been designing new logos and giveaway decals for them as well. I've submitted all the artwork proofs for approvals and will most likely cut them this weekend. Will cut yours for sure this weekend and pop them in the mail to you. Thanks for your patience and have a good weekend, Sir!

I appreciate the kind words, Sir. I haven't figured out how to leave you feedback for the quick payment yet, but will get it figured out and leave you a positive feedback. Thank you again.

Christof,

Stan,

Thank you, Sir! I appreciate hearing that. I hope that others will consider the simple fact that advertising does pay, and; for the money spent, doing vinyl decals to get the word out might be second only to word of mouth advertising. If there is anything I can help you with in the future please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks again and have a good week, Sir!
