Because I said I would.

Here is the official thread of the super exclusive Viper Dan club!

Only pictures of Dan's allowed, both model 1 or 2 and all scale types.

Also allowed are gawkers, admirers, envious souls, and aspiring owners.

Here, again, for your viewing pleasure, is my Dan1 in Carbon Fiber:

Here's mine in burgundy micarta:

It's a beautifully made knife, but I do have to say I'm a tiny bit disappointed that they didn't make it a flipper along the lines of the Panchenko Bean. The fact that the detent ball activates as a half-stop (in addition to activating in the fully opened and closed positions) takes away any flipping potential.

Brancron, that micarta is stunning! I don't know if it's just the picture or what, but its waaaaaay better looking than the stock photos made it look.

Here's my contribution:

Thanks Greg for setting up the thread! :D

I think that's why I like mine so much - because it's NOT a flipper.

I just posted my initial impressions about the Dan 2 IN THIS THREAD

But, but, a ball detent front flipper friction folder would be awesome! As far as I know nothing like that exists.

ok now that could be cool.

The only front flipper I actually like (and would love to get) is a Gareth Bull Shamwari Cheka.

The Smock new SK23 is nice, but I'm not a fan of the button lock release

Looks like I'm the only chump who bought the drop point. I do think it would be cool if it were a front flipper, but I love the uniqueness of the slip joint. I've been getting into slip joints lately, and this scratched an itch I had really hard.

That burgundy micarta shot is drop dead gorgeous

Can't stop playing with mine. I'm going to turn it into a flipper with all this open/close open/close. I'd love to see this same model with a liner lock and a 3.5" blade.

Now I'm kicking around the idea of picking up a Silver Twill Dan 1...

Curse these beautiful knives.

They are just so "right." I can't explain it either, it's the second knife I've ever owned after the Pingo that makes me want to have multiple versions.

True dat!

Have convexed the edge bevel and gently rounded the front of the finger choil with a fine file and some wet and dry.

Struggling to find anything to complain about...:)

I've never seen these before. Are they a friction folder with a ball detent? Anyone know where to get the carbon fiber 2? I only see one for sale at one site but they only have the silver twill G10 in stock.

Don't own one, but find them especially attractive! I prefer the look of the swedge, as well.

FYI, I think William Henry made a similar design using a tang extension, like this, plus ball detents for open and closed, ala a friction folder. They didn't have a half-stop.

WH Legacy? I think that's what it was called.

So glad I pulled the trigger on the 2/cf yesterday. Looks beautiful and everyone's words only reaffirms my decisiob

I got mine at bladehq

There are two detents, one in each scale, similar to this custom knife I own.

Not only to the detents hold the blade in place but being two they also provide a nice amount of resistance when opening and closing the knife so the blade doesn't simply swing freely:)

Yep. They only have the one in stock right now. I really like the looks of the carbon fiber on this one. Not usually a carbon fiber guy either.

That's pretty cool. I might have to pick one up if they get restocked.
