Haven't seen too much on this yet. The new viper/vox collaboration. Viper kyomi. Looks to be a pretty sweet deal. N690co and full titanium ,gg10 and ti or carbon fiber and ti. On Vox's Instagram it was said these should hit stores by the end of October... I'm starting to get antsy! Any word on a real release date and any thoughts or concerns? (I think I'm gonna grab the satin with cf.

Kyomi is kind of like the Odino with a flipper tab. Odino was very smooth but the detent on the weak side. Also, kind of thick and wide.

Hmm was the odino not pocket friendly? I was holding off on it BC I wanted the kyomi. I hope they strengthen the detent since its a flipper. Vox posted an action vid of the kyomi on his Instagram and it looks pretty good.

Odino is noticeably thick and wide. Hopefully, Kyomi not as much plus stronger detent.

The published specs do not include handle width and thickness but blade length and weight are about the same although Kyomi is about half an ounce lighter with a slightly longer blade.

Kyomi weighs 3.99 ounces for CF, 4.16 ounces for G-10 and 5.19 ounces for titanium.

I emailed Viper on the delivery schedule of the Kyomi. They're pretty good about responding.

Lamnia, which is a BF dealer in Finland, says they're due in this month.

Dang! Right on man. You rock. That's cool though. May end up scooping one up sooner than I though 😏

I got the odino in black blade carbon fiber scales. Looks like they aren't doin any more black blades, but I love mine and caries great, amazing feel and smooth. Only complaint I could say and not even complaint at all is the pocket clip could be a little tighter, and I kinda wish it had some jimping. But I would buy it again in a heart beat. I'm sooo excited for the kyomi I want the Orange one. Keep us posted if they tell you when it comes out!

Well looks like at least this clip will be an upgrade for ya! That clip /backspacer combo is pretty wicked. 😍 blue ano

Good news!

Viper Knives Sales Manager, Andrea Zanin, emailed me back: "Kyomi would be available in the US next week."

So excited! Do you think it is goin to be a high price when it first comes out then drop like fifty bucks after they get the first wave of people out of the way?

That was the case with the Odino where the all titanium is now $40 less than what it was early this year.

The first batch of Kyomi's arrived yesterday in the Netherlands. Looks like Viper started shipping by the end of last week so you guys across the big pond should get them any day now.
They improved on the detent and it flips "okay" with the push button method. The ergonomics are better then the Odino. Overall a very nice (and robust) folder.

The two pairs of "similar" knives (titanium and carbon fiber) have different blade finish; one is satin the other is stonewashed. Not very obvious from the picture.

Looks nice, but I do wish Viper would include some type of cap for the pocket clip hole on the front scale...

Well they shaped it to resemble "Sakura" the Japanese Cherry blossom. But I agree, specially on the non-titanium versions this resemblance is hard to see. A titanium insert would be nice.

It's good to see they put some thought into the design though. Much more attractive than a bunch of utilitarian looking holes.

Nice pictures.

Hoping the flipping action is better than "okay", the detent is not as weak as the one on the Odino and overall it's not as wide and thick as the Odino.

I think I'll start with the CF Satin but like the Odino I'll probably end up with the all titanium stonewashed as well. That Orange G-10 is nice too!

Viper Knives Sales Manager, Andrea Zanin, confirmed late last night regarding availability at U.S. dealers: "I mean between the end of this week and beginning of Christmas week."

Hate to disappoint you regarding the thickness and width (in closed position) of the Kyomi. They are exactly the same as the Odino.
Also the flipping action really is just "okay". I was hoping for better action after they postponed introduction of the Kyomi for several month to improve on that aspect.
But hey, the Kyomi still is a very very nice folder worth buying!
