Never used to have a problem and now it's happening almost constantly. It's happening with bladeforums only.

its probably your computer. you should always have something to protect against virus's AND maleware/spyware. as well as browser plugins like adaware and the like. i run like 3 different popup and adware blocking browser extensions. its helped me avoid many problems you will get without them.

Last few weeks? Week? BF has been causing virus warning fake pop ups. "Infected!! Your phone has 22 viruses !! Etc. This site is the only one causing it so I don't think it's my phone. Just thought you should know.

It's your phone. I access this site every day at work with mine, and never a problem.

It's not your phone, it's whatever dumbass app you have installed for virus protection.

Android is "sandboxed". That means that viruses or malware or the like won't affect your device unless you allow it to. By default, Android (assuming it has Google Play Services, and isn't some cheap Chinese thing you bought of eBay) is set to not install apps from "unknown sources". You can, but that's a setting you have to change. Not everything from unknown sources is malware. For example, there's plenty of apps that aren't available from Google Play because they violate the ToS (or simply would compete with Google's revenue). Like Amazon's store. Totally legit, but you have to change that setting.

The exception is if your device is rooted. If you don't know what that means, then download a rootchecker app to make sure the it doesn't have root access. Root access is exactly what it sounds like, and can cause serious issues, both in the device stability and cyberhacking. If your device was purchased 2nd hand, you need to make sure it's not rooted. If you know what root access is, and/or have rooted the device yourself, then you should know better and it's your own damn fault.

Your Android phone will not give you virus warnings by default, unless it's from some app you installed yourself or something that was pre-loaded by your carrier. I can (probably) help you with this, but I'll need to know your phone model, carrier, and version of Android it's running.

Wait, pop-ups, as in the browser? If that's the case, what browser app are you using? If it has an ad-blocker plug-in, try that.

Simple solution... don't use your phone. It's too small anyway.

I use my LG G5 for everything all the time. Never seen any of this. I'm not lugging around a laptop. No need for one.

Yep, some of the ads. Spark NEEDS to know about this!!! I only get it on occasion at the main page when I'm loggin in. Since members don't see ads, it isn't an issue once I'm signed in.

I've seen them on my PC, iPhone, and iPad too. Some ad is hijacking the page and redirecting. I'm see a lot more of this lately on several different forums, all running different forum software.

I took off every app I didn't absolutely need, went through and deleted every site's cookies , I didn't know if I went to. Thought that the random, "You're phone is infected and you must install this app" and the "You've won a Walmart gift card for 1000 dollars " bullshit was gone , but no every since I've not been a paid member that crap is all over this site and no other site I go to. I am beginning to believe, no it's not my phone, because it only happens here and it's making the place unusable on this Samsung.

This happens on my phone as well, has been happening for a week or so now. I can't even browse the exchange section for more than 1 minute, before I get redirected. I have Lookout running on my phone, and I've cleared cookies and cache.

Has anyone addressed this problem, rather than just blaming the users device?

I tired everything and they come right back. I cleared all cookies, reset the phone, removed all apps. I didn't have to have, scanned it with cleaner antivirus remover. It only happens on BF, no where else ever. So. I'm just not getting on here with the phone anymore, because I can't stop it from taking over the page and it won't go away until I close it down. And besides if you reset the phone and they still are coming back on here and only here what does that say?

Only people complaining are members without paid subscriptions. Only people seeing ads are those.

Correction; those here without paid subscriptions are not Members, they are Registered Users. It is important to recognize that distinction. Thus there are some certain inclusions to that status.
"Membership has its privileges."
That phrase is found all over BF especially on the Paid Subscription page.
Redirecting users randomly to off site ad web pages is a new part of the BF experience and it is most assuredly intentional.
Attention: This is NOT a vrus
It is not Malware or Adaware or anything that Spybot or Firefox or Pop Up blockers will prevent. Dumping Caches and Cookies are not going to 'Fix' it simply because nothings 'broken'. In retrospect Photo bucket has had it for years. And its more prevalent on smartfones and tablets than PCs. When you purchase the Photo bucket premium package going from user to paying member voila' redirect gone.
My Son is a Registered User here and he was online yesterday. He says he will be typing a reply and when he 'clicks' submit his screen changes and it's a spam site with
"Congratulations You are the 1000th Winner..."
And you can not 'backpage' out of it. He had to close down or Log Out and reopen. But he was using his Samsung Galaxy fone. When he logged on using the hotel rooms computer no problem.
And guess what? He's in the process right now of buying a membership. Hmmmm.
This is fairly recent. I was blue for awhile until about a week ago. In the past the first post on a thread page would always have the ad pic but lately theres an ad on the first post AND the last post and some are animated each with the message under the pic-
'Support BladeForums!'
but now with the red letter message...
'Members Don't See Ads'
The ads have also changed. Almost without exception the ads were for a firearms website or Brownells. Now it's dealers choice, everything from Exempla Health One to Chiles Restaurant. This tells me a new advertising firm has purchased air time from BF complete with these new irritating redirect features.

My Son's wanting to join up based solely on this new redirect feature is indicative that this is a great incentive to go gold. Indeed the moment my membership renewed all of this went away. Instant fix. Problem solved.

So there it is boys and girls, if you want to have the full Blade Forums experience WITHOUT the Redirecting Ad feature, Join Today!
Membership DOES has its privileges.
