Volunteer Knife Thread - Show them off!

The guy you want to ask is my friend B beeinak
I think your opinion carries more weight!
I only have 2 with the S grind and do not have any of the same models without for a comparison. I will say that they cut extremely well (and I love the look).
My opinions may be biased as I think they make some of the absolute best knives available, and are definitely the best value. Fantastic knives at great prices, with great people. I can’t speak higher of Volunteer Knife- just outstanding.

Well, since we both really like them a lot, at least we are of the same view🤣.

BTW, your opinion carries a lot of weight with me as well.
Thank you, brother. That means a lot to me.

There was actually a reason I didn't respond. (I have to run out for a couple of hours, but if you ask Bart he'll tell you why and you'll both get a chuckle out of it...or hit me up with a DM and I'll get back to you this afternoon.)

And, yes, everybody, Volunteer Knives are awesome. I can't imagine anyone thinking differently.

Hello Blues, what is your opinion on the Volunteer's "S" grind?
I am obviously not Blues Blues or B beeinak but when I first bought my 4.5 from Bart I asked him what was the benefit of the S-grind. He stated he got the idea from some ultra high end chef’s knives. The full length fuller/groove/relief cut/whatever you want to call it reduces drag on the material that is being cut. Less contact with the material = less friction or binding on certain materials.

In my testing it does seem to work. I immediately used mine on cardboard, onions and a stiff closed cell foam that comes in shipping boxes for a certain piece of equipment we use at work. The S-Grind flew through the foam and the cardboard like a significantly thinner blade and onions seemed less likely to stick to the blade. The S-grind works well and looks very unique.

My preferred choice for a blade was always a full flat grind, simply because I am not a fan of the overly thick indestructible blade (folder or fixed). Luckily it seems that era is fading. The S-grind allows for a thicker stronger blade with a cutting performance of a thinner blade. I am satisfied with mine.

I still want a 4.5 with a full flat grind and my reason is “just because”!!!!
