Doing a little fall turkey hunting in Western Maryland. Yes, I know, 308 for a turkey might seem crazy, but regulations here allow use of centerfire, rimfire, shot guns, muzzle loaders, handguns and even air rifles for fall turkey. Theres a lot of bears out here so I wanted something with some punch, just in case. I also figured that in the unlikely scenario I actually see a turkey I will be able to reach out and touch em at a significant distance. The VK 4.5 is on my hip.

Congrats!!! Hope you aimed for the neck. 😂🤣
Uhhhhhh yeah, the neck, that is exactly where I aimed!

There was about 12-15 in a flock and they were trotting in a rough line. I had a nice shooting lane as they jumped a log. First two quickly hopped up and over a down tree. I held where they jumped and when the third one hopped up, it jumped right into the cross hairs. Touched the trigger and watched em all fly away. That gun is LOUD. My ears instantly were ringing. We made turkey nuggets in camp.

Very nice Scout setup !

What kind of bullet do you use for the turkey ? Target Ammo ? just wondering.

That rifle is the most accurate with the 168 grain Sierra match King boat-tail hollow point. The second most accurate round that I have tested is a federal tactical bonded at 165 grains. Either round will kill a turkey, even regular old crappy practice ammo would do that as well, but I wanted to go for accuracy. I happen to have the 165 with me yesterday. I thought I grabbed the 168 but then when I opened my case, realized I put the wrong ones in there.

Sharp & Fiery Sharp & Fiery
I have been shooting all my life and my career has afforded me extensive firearms training. Combine that with a fantastically accurate rifle set up for quick shooting and it becomes a chip shot. I routinely hit an 8” steel circle from 250 yards while prone, and steel human silhouettes at 250 standing unsupported. The scope is a leupold scout fixed at 2.5x

Meeee tooooo! Although, I have never seen a kephart that I like the looks of. I am sure they function well, but the look is just meh.
