W-2 Chopper Wild Hamon

it's loosley based on early saxon and viking hand axes, it's my first axe, so it's more git-er-done than historically accurate, one of my forging students wanted to d a viking axe so I did this to figure out how to show him. He stuck his first successful forge weld monday evening!
the blade is 3/16 by the edge tapering to 3/8 in front of the eye. I will definitely post pictures!
how far from the edge did you stop the points of thick clay?

Cool looking forward to seeing it. I would use a little heavier clay on the thicker parts thinning to 1/8th or less on the thinner parts. I found that you need to bring it bown to within 1/2" but if it is too thick you will get too much heat retention. Thin is better.
