Added Rick, Battle Creek, Brian Sargent, and BMK. Welcome, this is an awesome group with a good spread of experience and style. This brings us to 18 participants and a full house...no more seats available.

I'll update post 1 when I can get to a computer (on motorcycle trip).

I've been mulling over making a comment on this. But I think I have to. This may be a wording issue- I can "one hand" a traditional patch knife with a bit of work and finding the sweet spot for my thumb, but:

Something snuck into the rules under the radar, and I'm not sure it's fair to the newer makers, and it's honestly something I can do, but tend not to, for safety and style reasons. I got into neckers by way of mountain man recreationism. I'd never even seen an inverted carry one hand necker until a few years ago. I tend to make mine more or less traditional in that regard. Now, note, I'm perfectly capable and willing to make a safe inverted carry one hand tactical leather sheath- and I was planning to in any event.

But the wording is... unclear. I know one maker who is specifically going with kydex instead of leather just because of this requirement- but I'm not sure the requirement is actually for the inverted one hand draw.

PLEASE do not let this get flame ridden, and don't undo anything major. I just feel this reduces some of the potential ergonomic choices, safety choices, and possibly abilities for some of the makers.

and I think it's just a language problem and not a specific restriction :D

Christof,

Good question, thanks for asking for clarification. It is a wording issue, but it's also a reflection of my experience (limited compared to some) with neck knives. The most secure neck knife I own is inverted kydex, and the least secure was a more traditional leather setup...knife slid right out when turned on it's side. If I'm going to wear a knife under my jacket, last thing I want is for it to come out of it's sheath when horizontal. So, as long as it's generally secure, and easily accessible, it's good to go. Saw one a few years ago at a Norse fair that hung horizontal, and had to be tied to the sheath to keep it all together. Looked cool, but totally weak in regards to accessibility. Want to discourage that type of thing.

Open to thoughts or comments.

HAHAHAHA. horizontal tied up carry! I guess it's secure.

There are some tricks to making the leather sheaths work. I've got a new trick I'm going to try out to work on that.

If you want an opinion, it's just "make it safe"

Thanks, I understand what's going on now. :D

So are we going to go with accessible and safe (safe as in secure enough not to easily fall out, and accessible as in two hand draw acceptable as long as it's not a pain to get to)?

I'm trying to get happy in a ghetto dive bar in SLO, I'm sore from a very long day of riding (don't ask where it hurts), and you guys are killin' me. I have a considerable pile of knives, none of which require two hands to unsheath. Forget the one-handed thing...just make it secure enough that it wouldn't fall out if...say...you were crawling through the bushes on your way back to your hotel room from a ghetto dive bar...or in the wilderness or something. That work? :)

Updated post no. 1 with final list of participants and a minor rule change to clarify that a broader selection of sheaths is allowable. Bonus points for any sheath that operates with an elaborate series of ropes and pullies. ;)

Good stuff and top marks for coming up with something original looking, it's never easy nowdays !

bro awesome job !!!

man, you're so right as I was reading the dizzy part I found myself blinking multiple times, trying to adjust my eyes somewhat.....

okay, I quit... :p

not quite sure I've seen that scale material before I'll have to check your specs and see if you mention it there........

if something like that 'printed' transparently through clothes, it would blind the viewer !!!!! :)

Looks great bro! Something very different from you which is cool.

That's fantastic. Almost afraid to touch it (but we'll beat the hell out of it anyway).
