What would you make? Here are the materials.

(1) slab of damascus (1095 / 15n20 about 156 layers) Length = 15" height = 1.75" and thickness = just under .25"

(1) block of stabilized masur birch with wicked figuring.

I would like to use most of the damascus if possible and would like to have a single blade in the end ;)

You guys are far more creative than me so ....with those materials what would you make? Would love to see some pics of designs (pencil drawings or whatever) you think would be cool with these materials.

Thanks Larry

hidden tang coffin handle bowie with 10" blade and 3" long straight clip?

Bonze and blue with a bit of texture/carving carried into the handle to make a glorius seax! lol why does that sound so bad.

A matching set of 7'' elegant boot knives/dagger.. similar to this Reese Bose pattern [Borrowed Image]

Or a Hunter set..

Another vote for a large dagger!

You wouldn't happen to be the Shaughnessy from TS3.com would you?

I probably would not pair those two. Too much pattern competing with each other.

I agree with the dagger suggestions, though.

Hi Larry

This is a sketch I have been working on for a long time but since you are a good friend I thought, what the heck, I'll share with Larry. I am sorry if it has a lot of technical info on it but I wanted to make sure I remembered all the modifications I made. Of course you might want to simplify it a little, I tend to complicate things a lot. I only ask a simple acknowledgement of the origin of it when you post the final knife.

PS: I would not feel right asking for royalties but if it makes you feel better I'll gladly accept a small percentage of the sale price. Of course I would be offended with anything over 50%.

Just couldn't resist, sorry. ;)
Kidding aside, with materials like these, I am sure any knife will look awesome!

HAHAHAHAHA...............Whats funny is that is about as good as I can draw too. I been thinking about a seax that a few have mentioned, and started looking at pics, etc. I like the seax idea but want to do an longer upswept persian style blade. Patrice you don't know anyone that can draw a "persian type" blade design do you? Maybe someone from Canada ? eh.....:p I can't seem to get the curve to look right on the top of the spine ....:(

Here's a pic of a blade shape that I really like..... Maker is Jake Powning, and his work is amazing. All that carving and intricate details..........beautiful.

Let me see what I can come up with tomorrow night Larry. And I promise it will be of slightly better quality than the previous one. ;)

Funny you should post that Jake Powning sword. It has been my desktop background for a while to study it.
