W1 Redwood burl "shiv" with active hamon

nice work Chris. I've been admiring most of your pieces. When I get some funds, hope you can build me something.

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!

If you do a search you will see that I don't often remark on knives.... but this one is absolutely stunning!!!!! If I had the need/use for it or the extra $$$ I'd buy it... however I don't so regrettably (sp?) I can only admire it through this site...

Chris for 21 you are making some SUPER NICE BLADES!!!!! Congrats to you and man.... I only wish I'll be able to afford your knives in the future.... but I'm thinking your prices will climb (deservingly so) faster than my paycheck!!!!

Lovely edge man.... Very nice work!!!

Ah yes, Senator...great snag.

I was trying to figure out what I could sell to grab it.lol

thanks guys!
the knife is sold.
i'll ship the knife this afternoon hopefully.
thanks Kelly!

I also wanted to say that the improvement you have seen in my knives is very much due to the insiration and advice from this site.. so kudos to you guys!
thanks so much for the help and encouragment!

Chris, thats beautiful, and you're stuff blows me away!

I think a lot of people will start wanting to buy your stuff for long term investments. You need a makers mark with prefereably a year added underneath and you will attract the interest of those who will speculate on your long term potential as a maker.

any idea where i can buy a good stamp? or other recomended ways of applying a mark? i have the design.. and i always sign my work, but i curently use and engraver and it istn always very... professional looking.
thanks so much for the gracious comments

WOW! That is elegant, with a sublime wickedness. Awesome. Love the wooden sheath, never seen anything like it before.

wow! thats amazing man, dont forget guys, mozart died a youngin :P :D

as far as a makers mark, get yerself a small length of steel, dremel or engrave a mirror image of what you'd like on the blades, harden and temper it, use it during the hardening soak. another option I haven't tried myself yet is to acid etch using wax as a mask, id look into testing that carefully first though for obvious reasons.

... oh and HI ALL! few of ya may know me from primal fires and the outpost *waves*

Congratulations on the sale. Truly a work of art. I am keeping my eyes peeled for the next one.

Cheers!

Hey, Tom - it's been a while hasn't it? How ya been? You going to Blade next year? I haven't been for a few years, but I've already made my hotel reservations.

This baby should be in my grubby little hands tomorrow morning. I can't wait! :p

Hey Kelly, Not to many of us old timers still around.lol
I'm hoping to make Blade again next year. It's always fun. My only real vacation.

Enjoy that sweet dagger.
Tom

Very nice.
If it was a bit heaver and possibly grooved or slightly "hollow ground" on the flats it would be a beautiful Su Yari head. There are collectors for that specialty of the blade makers art. If you have never handled a Yari, it's the Japanese light thrusting spear, a weapon form I think is more graceful than sword play.

someone mentioned yari on Bladesmith forums....they are pretty cool looking. i may have to try my hand at them some time.. *laughs* so many ideas.. too little time.
thanks!

Chris, another thing to consider would be making your own "touch mark". Great little knife btw.
