Fishing sounds good, man! The hamon thing is easy, just take lots of practice.
The recipe is; Good W2 + Satinite + Park's 50 oil...

Mine came in yesterday. Looks good and can't wait to try some. It'll just take a bit to draw it out first, but thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make ;)

Thanks Don!

Don,

I know it's all on here somewhere, but could you put a link on your own website with the following info?:

Compostition of your W2
Recommended HT sequence(s)
Etc. that you think is relavent

Thanks,

John, here's a link; http://www.sunfishforge.com/w2toolsteel.html

I've never added the heat treat info on my site, but have posted it many time in the older W2 threads, and emails to all that asked.

After forging, normalized 3 times. Grind to 120 grit, edge thickness .030"- .050". Heat to 1450f, hold for a couple minutes, or until a good even heat. Quench in a very fast oil, (Parks 50 is the fastest). If warped, straighten right out of the quench. Temper at 425-500f, depending on size and use of blade. As quenched hardness should be 66-67 RC. Temper hardness should be 59-62 RC.

Hope this helps.

3 boxes left.

You're welcome, John.

Hey, does anybody know why this thread doesn't go to the top of the page with a new post???
Never seen this?

I think I found it. But Why?

Seem, people will be more inclined to start a new thread, rather than add to an old one???

Edit to add; OK, I figured it out and fixed it on my computer :o

Got my two boxes too! Thanks Don. Can't wait to try it out but dang that's some big stock to pound by hand! :p
My two lots were different diameters. Same batch though, right?

btw, care to share how you "fixed" this thread thing. I find this not bumping to the top really annoying.

Try sorting by Last Post when you open the page.

That's what I did, but needs to be done every time I check this forum. It is a pain and I will start a new thread when I have more of this W2 ready to ship, just to get it back on the front page :)
