I'm getting a new Kukri delivered today, and i'm sitting here at work checking the delivery confirmation every 30 minutes...

This waiting stuff makes me twitchy

anyone else HATE this part?

My friend is sending me my long lost HALO 5 and Troodon, haven't seen them in over a year. Should be arriving next week. I think I have a ZT 0301 coming in today, should take the edge off of that haha.

well, i'm planning on posting a substantial, pic heavy side by side comparison of it either this evening or tomorrow.

I'm going to compare it the the CS Kukri machete and the Condor Boomslang for chopping, size, etc, and then beat the snot out of the edge chopping some dry wood and see if it can hold an edge.

It's a very limited run hand made kukri, so i'm curious to see if it is decent. I took a gamble but the price was right.

I always spend months obsessing over a knife before I give in and buy it. You would think that the fact I was able to hold out so long already would make it easier to wait but once I finally order something it's a thousand times worse. I have a case trapperlock coming sometime next week and it's already killing me.

Take the anxiety out on the shipping box once it arrives.

Lol i thought i was the only one who did that... i spend 20-30 minutes trying to pick up all the tiny pieces and slivers of cardboard off the floor after getting a new knife

glad to see it's not just me ;)

Few days wait. Ya rookies. Wait until you want something that takes 5 or 6 years. :D

I hope to take delivery of a knife at Blade that was ordered in 1999. (not kidding)

Bastid... details please? WTF kind of knife takes 13 years to make?

Did you put a chemist on retainer to have him develop the first Adamantium knife?!

I am waiting on a custom piece I ordered from Bacustoms. Worst part? i don't even know what it's going to look like. I saw the blade blank and described what I wanted but haven't seen the actual finished knife. The anticipation and guessing is killin me!

I share that feeling when I order something that I truly covet -- like a kid before Christmas. It's pathetic, really.

I went through that last month waiting on a Kershaw Volt.
Tracking said it was out for delivery and I met the mail man, he didn't have it. :(.
A later entry on tracking noted it had been delivered. Not to me. I never did get it.

It did not take 13 years to make. The makers waiting list was that long. :D.

well, i got it, but i didn't have time to do a review this weekend.

My first impressions are not all favorable. The materials and design are good. The finish is pathetic.

I spent all evening friday reworking the blade finish to try to remove the staining left on by some sort of oil that the maker had put on the blade

the edge grinds look like they'd been put on by a palsied monkey.

For $100, i suppose it's passable, but I was hoping for more.

Pics to follow after work today

The waiting is part of the "fun", and is an integral element of the hunt, the purchase, the wait, the mailbox and the opening. Dr. Powernoodle says that we buy these toys to distract ourselves from the emotional angst which resides in each of us. The waiting is part of the distraction. Embrace the wait.

This is one of those facts that is disturbingly accurate, yet very difficult to confront head on... when you have "something to look forward to" it's a bit easier to deal with "the shit that's happening now"
