Wal-Mart Knife Story

There are some people that would eventually learn.
You could say that for me for driving recklessly.
I used to drive very fast because I have to deliver food for a PT job or just for the heck of it. One time I was driving downhill at 70km/h at minimal distance with the van in front, and all of a sudden some bastard decides to turn left into the direction that I was travelling on a double yellow line. I slammed on the brakes, lock the tires, and I honestly thought that I would've crashed into the car. I was wondering what would happen to me when the car stop at inches from the bumper in front.
Since then I've clean up my driving quite a bit. I'm glad I did.

Calyth, I have to thank the powers that be that there are understanding people out there, too... when I was 18, I was going down I-5, downhill near Mount Vernon... There was no one around, so I punched the gas... well, it turns out that there WAS someone around... the State Patrol officer who nabbed me. Boy did I feel stupid. But he was VERY cool..

He came to the window, asked me if I knew how fast I had been travelling, and I answered honestly "No,Sir. My speedometer only goes to 85, and I was going faster than that!"

I knew I was screwed anyway, but then he comes back to the car and said I was 'clocked' by the plane that had been monitoring my speed at 114 miles per hour. I new my Nissan was shaking 'a bit' at the time but literally had no clue about my velocity.

He says "why were you driving so fast?" and I replied "Because I'm stupid, and wanted to see how fast this thing would go.." to which he replied "yep, your are pretty stupid" to which I replied "I agree, Sir."

He comes back to the car with a ticket (of course) and said "well. I caught you going over the speed limit. By my best judgement, you were going about 84 MPH... You see son, if you were going over 85 you'd be charged with Reckless Driving, and that is a pretty large fine and will also jack up your insurance til you are an old guy like myself... DO YOU GET ME?!"

Oh... I got him.. I wish I had his name so I could return the favor... he could have my life living hell, but chose not to. he told me that due to the fact that I was wearing my seatbelt, obviously was not drinking, and was a very respectful young man... that he took it easy on me... And when I went to court to plead "no contest" to the charge, the judge reduced the ticket to $24... down from around $300.

So, Calyth, I know what you're talking about... I got off pretty damn lucky...
