Walking dead kind of night

Yeah, I really don't know what the writers were going for. All I can think about is that Rick's head is in a constant tug-of-war all the time trying to make the right choices with new rules that don't exist yet. He was probably still debating whether or not to kill Shane even after the knife was already in him.

In the comic (spoilers), Shane and Rick went hunting for the group when it was still camped just outside Atlanta, Shane drew a gun on Rick, and Carl appeared out of nowhere and shot Shane through the neck. He died either choking or bleeding to death. No brain trauma--like in the show, it's Shane's reanimation many, many, many issues later that confirms to Rick that everyone turns when they're dead no matter the cause, although the events leading up to it are much, much different as you can imagine (in the comic, Shane dies pretty much before anything happens at all).

Ahh ok. And ricks hand?...

Damn now I wanna buy these comics. They will probably be hard to come by and expensive now though huh.

Ok, more spoilers :p

In the comic, the governor and the prison are closely tied together, and they're both key roles in season 3. Basically, the governor chops off Rick's right hand. For a more farfetched analogy, by this TV-equivalent point in the comic, Rick already had another right-hand man, but he's eventually murdered by the governor. It would suck if Daryl gets killed by the governor in the show.

I don't see any of that happening in the show. It'd make things VERY difficult for the writers or make things really far fetched.

The governor is a pretty despicable guy in the comic. They have to show it somehow in the show. I guess we'll see!

I imagine if they were able to make Michonne's pet walkers appear arm- and jawless, they could make Rick right handless, but honestly that hasn't affected Rick at all in the comic. It's barely a plot device; all the issues from then up to the current one would still be the same even without that amputation.

You need to. It's like the same story in a different timeline/universe. Another interpretation of the plot without having to learn everyone's names all over again!

Yeah but isnt he Right handed? Hows he gonna be such a badass with that Colt Python now? or is he a good left and right hand shot...

Yep, exactly. He's right-handed, but the series continues on as normal, and he just learns how to do things with his left hand. It barely affects the plot at all.

Ahh. That happened to my father. He was 18 years old. He had just gone down to the army recriutment center and was going to join the to go to Vietnam. I think at this stage he was just talking to a recruiter and hadnt signed anything yet. One day he went to Greenwood lake N.Y. The drinking age there was 18 and in N.J. it was 21. He lived in Wayne N.J., a short distance from Greenwood lake N.J. which bordered Greenwood lake N.Y. Figured hed get in some drinking. Greenwood lake is nororious for its windy roads. My dad flipped his car and lost his right hand ( he was right handed ). I cant remember the circumstances of what caused the accident, Ill have to ask my mother. I remember my dad saying he got out of the wreck of his car and a car pulled up from the opposite direction and a man jumped out and asked if my dad was alright. My dad had his left hand over his stump his right arm to staunch the blood. My dad said get help and went to show the guy his injury. When my dad took his hand off of his stump the blood shot the 20 feet ( maybe less , cant remember ) between my dad and his would be good samaritan and hit him in the chest. The man promptly passed out. My dad said he remembers just standing there thinking. oh yeah this is just great.... LOL. My dad was a bad ass. He stood there and was still conscious when the ambulance showed up to the scene.

Anyway my dad never drank and drove again. He learned how to do everything with his left hand. He absolutely refusded to let anyone baby him or treat him as handicapped. He made it a point to do everything not only better than someone with 2 hands, but faster. And he did. It pretty much defined him. He was a great down to earth do everything kinda guy. You needed a cabinet made /. fixed? He did it. Car repairs....electric work...plumbing... anything. He was a jack of all trades kinda guy before the accident, but even moreso after. He didnt want anyone to do somthing for him that he thought he could do for himself.

Maybe that is how Rick approached his injury in the comic. It will be interesting to see if they touch upon it in the series or if they mix it up a bit as they have been doing so far.

My dad died 3 years ago now from diabetes complications and heart trouble. His body quit him, but he never quit. I remember my cousins husband died, in a horrible car accident when he was in his late 20s leaving behind a wife and twin baby girls both under 1 year. at the time of the accident he had been building cabinets in the upstairs room of their house. My dad , while working 2 jobs at the time went there every day until he finished the job for her. There are a million stories about my dad like that, as well as alot of stories of his crazy sense of humor lol. The last one I will impart right now, since I am drinking a bit and feeling sad about him not beiong here anymore. My dad had only 10 percent of his heart working towards the end and the diabetes was pretty much ravaging his sysyem unchecked. He had almost died a few months earlier when his blood pressure dropped and he flatlined. They brought him back but he wasent the same. He would be cognizant and then sometimes not all there, a bit foggy which was unbearable since he was always such a sharp intelligent guy. My mom said that one day my dad almost jumped up out of bed. Started talking about having to go to the store for Bobby ( Me ). At the time my fiancee was pregnant and my dad started getting dressed. My mom was like...Bob, what are you doing? He responded with,,,, Bobby is going to be a father soon and when the baby comes he will need a camera to take pictures. He was all ready, as sick as he was during what he knew to be one of his more lucid moments to go to Best buy and get me a camera. My dad died 3 years ago at the age and my Mom got me a camera in his name for me in time for the baby. He just missed her by a little over one month. He was only 59.

Sorry to get all mushy there but today, well yesterday now was my daughters 3rd birthday and I was using that very camera to take the pictures.

Blah, back to the walking dead.
If Rick in the comic or the tv show is half the man my father was, theyre gonna be ok.

Wow I have alot of typos above. Tried to fix them just now but my edit post function still doesnt work.

if you want to show the gov"ner, in true form. where are the game's, and his clear screen's for watching. also not to mention how he pull's teeth of the young.

I could see several possibilities.

Comic spoilers...

-Merle cuts off Rick's hand as revenge for him having to cut off his own.
-Although I think Daryl somewhat replaces Tyrese, I don't see them killing Daryl off. Perhaps T-Dog becomes Michonne's love interest and he gets murdered by the Gov.
-They make Tyrese one of the prisoners (some blue collar crime) to squeeze him into the plot.
-Carol dies the way she did in the comic and Daryl flips his shit...although I don't see her needing to do anymore grieving.
-Hershel's other daughter needs to die somehow...Does AMC has the balls to copy the comic on that one? What about Lori. I'm guessing no.

I remember someone else bringing up the prisoner arc as well but I doubt they'll do it the same way, if even. The biggest thing we learned (spoilers) from their story is that people reanimate even without getting bitten, and that's already been revealed in the show. Unless they just want to have a few other pointless characters like T-Dog around, they could skip the four prisoners that are in the comic.

They can't keep up the death toll if they don't introduce more characters. If it is going to be anything like the comic you need to constantly be getting new characters so old ones can die. They picked up a couple at the farm and I imagine they would pick up a couple at the prison.

Yeah, the beauty of having a serial work of zombie fiction is that, eventually, everyone you started off with can die and the story will still go on. It really takes away from this anxiety of the story ending that other zombie fiction has, where everyone dies and that's it, roll credits. But I prefer that. Obviously Rick is the main character here, but The Walking Dead still seems to make the situation the main "character" rather than its characters themselves, so the story always continues.

The way everyone in that show can shoot!!!! I am sure they can all pull off head shots from moving vehicles if you cut off both of their hands. Herschel has that magic shotgun so he doesn't even need hands to reload.

Garth

Yeah no kidding. I still say they should have just used their cars and run them all over. Waste of ammo. And that shotgun work was pretty good lol. I think I saw him reload one time.

As for useless characters in the series so far, was t-dog in the comic? If so, was he as worthless as in the show?

He wasn't in the comic.

I say they should have saved the ammo AND the gas and just left.
