I was walking out the door to go to grocery store. i had two knives on the table. benchmade 940-1 and valet. a long pause followed. i chose the benchmade valet. sometimes these small insignificant decisions are the toughest. For the past 2 years 940-1 has been that choice. i guess it has a contender now.

The Valet is such a great knife in a small package. I'm not a small knife guy but I do miss that blade.

Yeah, if it's not my Protech, it's my flipper. Loving the ease of deployment.

Sorry to hear that man. We went through that on a much more minor scale down South.
Get one of these.

That napa fire is a good reminder to always be prepared, just as was the oroville dam emergency. Both events within a year and with little to no warning. My valet could end up being my main edc. Nothing but mine 940 got pocket time until i got this valet. The only thing is that the 940-1 has a more useful blade length while at the same time being a little on the large side for use around non knife people.

A thread on deciding which knife to carry to the grocery store.

Like was mentioned before , take them all.

That's not a hard decision... you take all of them.
Was going to say the same thing!

Fire department: Sir you need to evacuate your home immediately, there is a raging fire on the way. Grab ESSENTIALS only and run!

Knife nut: Ok got it, thank you! Runs immediately past sleeping cat to knife drawer and grabs every last one of them LOL

I just have to laugh. As if there aren't more important things to become anxious about than choosing which knife to put in or clip to your pocket. For me, when in doubt, grab the SAK.

Oh make no mistake, I'm laughing too.

It's a good problem to have ... these days when you you look up and realise I've spent 20 minutes trying to decide which knife to carry ... so I ended up with just two ... and still have 30.minutes to spare while my wife changes her outfit just one more time.

It's only time to worry when you have to change into cargo pants to ease the anxiety by having more pockets ... then sadly ... it might be time for an intervention.

At night before i go to bed is when i decide. I wake up for work at 430am and usually in no correct frame of mind to be deciding on what knife to carry. Haha.
At night i put the next days knife on my dresser with my ring and wallet, its the first 3 things i grab as i go to get dressed.
It made my morning routine a lot smoother. Hah

Yea..life was simpler when i had only one edc. it is definitely a real thing, and it is definitely comical. I guess people who collect shoes or watches have similar issues. Also if you are into photography and you own many lenses but only want to carry one for convinience. That is also a tough one especially if you have only prime lenses.
