walking out door; couldn't pick which knife

I'm imagining tossing my knives out the window onto that trampoline kinda thing the FD uses and yelling "save my babies!!!"
Exactly! With any luck they're wrapped in bubble wrap and fall onto an inflatable rescue landing thing.

it seems like this knife anxiety is a problem afflicting many. we may have to talk to a pharmaceutical company to develop a new drug. But as far as problems go, it is not a bad one to have. I feel the problem gets more difficult when you have many knives that are similar and fulfill the same role.

Over the many years of collecting, everything from CRK to the lowly Victorinox,I simply am not content unless its a Spyderco.
My carry pattern is the Kiwi 4 and UKPK around the house. When walking the pup, its either a Para 2 or Caly 3.5.
When going out to a restaurant, weddings etc its one of my Chaparrals. When on the job a Delica is a perfect lite weight do all knife.
Last but certainly not least, for visiting friends and family the Spyderco Sage 2 is the one.
I must admit this new Benchmade 535 Bugout is causing a bit of a problem with my Delica choice. :p

The Bugout is totally a delica killer, lol. Carrying mine today.

I have the same problem everyday. It takes me 5-7 minutes to decide in the morning and the rule is that I cannot carry the same knife till the next week, this forces me to rotate them. I also carry a small fixed blade 3" or less inside my waistband. It's a great felling having them with me.

Ive heard a few people say that the bugout has displaced their 940 as their edc. Sounds like it has some potential. I bet theyll have a -1 verison of it at some point

I totally agree ,this knife is a winner for sure.

Few mention the Kiwi 4 these days except me. I like this knife for around the house or when I want something really thin in a more dressy situation. I am definitely interested in the Benchmade Bugout. It would seem to be on my buy list when I get around to it. Delica replacement... perhaps, but the Delica doesn't find its way into my pocket as much as it used to. Nothing against the Delica, I have just moved on a bit.... always something new....

The Bugout certainly has some appeal from my prospective. But it is interesting that this fairly simple knife (with axis lock) seems to be selling well. It certainly isn't priced like a Delica.

When the Kiwi first came out a couple years ago, I really didn't think it would get much carry.
As the evolution of a knife collection go's, it became my go too, around the house as well.
I think because of its light weight and wharncliffe blade, which is useful for those pesky bubble packs etc.

I have the feeling that the bugout will become a benchmade classic. I think it will become one of the best selling knives in the mid-tier price range. It has the design, it has the "sliceyness", ergonomics, popular steel, convenient in pocket carry and useful size and shape and a competitive price. I fear i would never make it out the front door again if i were to buy one for the choice of knife for the day could be unbearable.

Does anybody here have experience with both the bugout and 940 or 940-1? I would interested to know your opinion.

I've seen a few carbon fibre scale replacements for the Bugout that turned it into an absolute A1+ class edc knife.

I wonder how long till Benchmade releases the CF bugout with s90v?

These are easy to figure out;
- Dub one knife "heads" and the other "tails"
- Flip a coin
- While the coin is in the air you will slightly prefer one side to the other to land face up
- This is the knife you really want to carry.
- If you truly don't care, go with what the coin decides.

Easy peasy.

Well, I'm driving North 3 hours tomorrow for some overnight camping and will have my normal edc on me (for the drive) as well as backups, and others to carry once I get there

My knife indecision usually ends up with me buying another knife at some point! The dilemma with that scenario is not having any disposable income left. :(

Hey, you think that's bad, try figuring which knives to take with you when Cal Fire and Napa County Sherrif's Office tell you to evacuate your home!

@sabre cat I’m really glad it worked out well for you. About 3 years ago we had to evacuate our home due to wildfires. Luckily we had about 30 minutes warning. After grabbing the bug-out bags my wife had time to grab our legacy chest (family history stuff) and I was able to empty the safe. Luckier still, the winds turned favorable and noone lost a home. Best wishes for you, your neighbors, and your friends affected by the fires.
