Wallet breaking cards

I have the small wallet. I guess it would be the ID 1. It's broke a ton of cards. I emailed them & they said they hadn't heard of any issues & maybe I had to much stuff in it. They did send me out a replacement with no hassle whatsoever. It's still new in my drawer, I haven't used it yet. It has the new logo. I'm unsure what I'm gonna do with it ATM. I love there product & they have awesome CS. I was debating on trying the medium wallet but I love the small compact size of the 1 I have now.

Interesting. I've had the ID wallet for at least a couple years now, stuffed, less stuffed, almost empty, stuffed again (either with cards or a bunch o' ones in the middle cash pocket or both), and don't have even a hint of damage.

I'm not questioning your account at all, it's just the first I've heard of card-cracking problems with the ID wallet. I'm glad SBL took care of you, but sorry you've understandably lost confidence in entrusting your cards to their wallet.

Yeah I completely busted 2 ATM cards straight down the center. At first I didn't think nothing of it. Just figured it was a old card, got a replacement & about 4 months later exact same thing started to happen again. I really really like SBL products & they were quick to respond to my concerns & even sent me a replacement so I have no issues with them what so ever, they are top notch in my book. I'm considering getting the medium wallet, however I'm unsure if I want to tote around such a large piece of leather in my back pocket after being so used to the size of the Id wallet

The medium size is the average sized wallet. it feels thick and uncomfortable at first, but as it works in (which doesn't take long at all, a couple days at most) it gets comfortable.

I got the wallet today. Only difference I can see is the logo on the front and dog inside the wallet. Anybody know if there were any other changes made?

I know this thread is mostly talking about the medium and smaller wallets but I just wanted to say that I have the large bi-fold and love it. I cannot see it possibly breaking any cards. I have had it for about four months with no wear at all on any cards, I even put an old one in there that is basically broken in half lengthwise, barely holding on, and it has stayed together.
I was afraid it would be too big as I have always liked small wallets but I have come to love the size of the large; it is pretty thin but what is magical is that it never seems to get thicker no matter how much I put in it. It fits perfectly into the back pocket of my levi's and the large surface area makes it disappear rather than create pressure points or feel like a book. It also rides quite well in a breast pocket, again its size makes it blend in rather than stick out.
I think a lot of people would be more happy with the large who got the medium. That is, unless you like to carry in a front jeans pocket.
Just my $.02

I also haven't had any trouble with cards breaking, and im a big dude and its happened before with other wallets. And I have a med. bi-fold btw

This is so weird.
I read this thread, and realized that the same thing was happening
with my Med also.
I emailed them, and they're sending a new one out.
Don't even have to return the old one.
All they wanted was a picture.
Wow.

Just received my replacement wallet yesterday.
This after receiving almost 20 emails from Saddleback on every aspect
of the warranty claim.
Funny thing is that I got emails from like 5 different people.
Nice to know that a company involves more than 1 person in customer service.
I can't say enough good about Saddleback Leather.
Now, if I could only afford one of their water bags!

I have a large bifold that I got a little over a month ago, and the cards seem fine to me. I don't even see how it would happen. Seems like this issue is pretty isolated to their smaller wallets.

Do you see a difference in the two wallets?
BTW - I just received my medium satchel - really nice - perfect size for carrying my Ipad!

jhyde7585, when did you guy the wallet? Does it have the signed logo on the front and dog inside?

Sorry for the lack of reply! But I got mine in January, and yes it has the signed logo and dog on the inside right flap, bottom right corner

The new one has the new logo and dog inside.
Kinda liked the old logo better.
And the leather has almost no natural marks, very smooth and evenly colored.
Finally, it looks like the inner pigskin layers on the top left side are slightly thinner than those on the top right side.
You only notice it when the wallet is closed and you look at i t from the end opposite the fold.
Can't wait to break it in.
I'm kinda thinking of getting one in Tobacco also.
I like the light color, and the fact that it takes on so much character with use.
Anybody have one they'd like to trade for a slightly used Chestnut?
If so, PM or email me.

I have a med-tobacco I purchased 2 months ago or so and I have had no issues. I actually really love the wallet and its great to read the above average customer service for those that had issues. Not sure if mine is any different, but I stack a few CC's in mine and other junk and have had no problems.

I just switched everything over to the new wallet so i will see. I gave my old wallet to my brother who doesn't really carry cards.

Newer, thinner on left, the older, thicker on right

Newer one (bottom) has thinner internal lining, making it more flexible, and won't break cards. This was a "design" flaw, SBL fixed a while ago.
