Wally world knife suggestions?

My 110 wasn't perfect either. Slightest bit of play in the blade, a little toothier edge that I would like out of the box, and some scuffing on the bolsters right out of the packaging.

However, a little stone time, some stropping, a bit of TLC with some metal polish, and it was like saying hello to an old friend again. Not the perfect tool for every job, but for the price, I don't think I would feel under knifed with just a 110.

I went there a couple days ago and one of the people tried to sell me 110 clone saying it was a real buck. It had China stamped on the blade and was extremely dull. Of course, the person who opened up a little case told me to be extremely careful as it was "dangerously sharp" he even asked immediately if I was ok after checking the sharpness. I ended up at the other Wal*Mart to find what I wanted for my birthday.

all this talking of the OD-1 broke me down and I picked one up today.

Great knife, but my same complaint about Kershaw remains, WHY do they drill the tip up clip holes so far down the scale? There's at least a half inch of scale exposed that they could have drilled it up into to raise the clip... hmmmm, might need to look into a mod.

Other than Gerbers and the Buck 110, every blade I have been interested in looking at in Walmart was out of stock. No more Natives. They were the best buy there while they carried them. Guess Spyderco wised up on pricing and Walmart was probably not interested in increasing the price not reducing it on their end. Smart move.

Missed the Native - long sold out at our local Wally Worlds. Picked up a Buck 110. It was gritty out of the box, the clerk tried to clean it by wiping it on his jeans. I spent a happy hour with toothpicks, q-tips and airgun oil cleaning it up. My blade locks real tight, holds a great edge and sharpens up real good. I prefer the nylon sheath because of the horizontal carry option.

Sorry to get off topic but who came up with the name "Wally World" and

whats the meaning behind it?

Who started it? Who knows?

It's a liner lock I know but I just picked up the Kershaw Skyline today. Needed a new cheapie EDC. G10 skins lightweight and a supersharp blade. Pretty nice knife for 35 bucks.

Am I the only one who is disappointed with the Wally World offerings? It seems like three Kershaws that look very similar and lack SpeedSafe, plus some low-end Gerbers and Bucks, except for the must-have 110.

I liked it better when they carried the Spydie Native and Kershaw Scallion and Storm plus some Vic SAKs.

The zing has the grooves, Od-1 has the flipper and g10/ frame lock, barrage has a frame lock and thumb studs. They are varied enough for most customers.
My walmart has the skyline, barrage, od-1, zing, scallion, blur, leek, and some gerbers. It's a decent selection from kershaw but all the gerbers are really cheap and low quality.

My WallyWorlds still carries Scallions, Leeks, Skylines, OD-1's, Barrage, Blur Tanto SpeedSafe, Storms and Zings. And Some even carry Buck's Vantage Pro in S30V+G-10. Seems like a nice selection to me. I picked up the Spyderco Native 4 in S30V about a month ago for $30 on clearance. Do I wish they had more? Sure. I wish they offered Spyderco again and more Kershaws for sure.

What makes the Od-1 a gimmick? It's a sweet knife that happens to have a great opening system. Even without the Od flipper it would be a good knife.

+1

The OD-1 is a great EDC knife with a solid design and feature-set. I don't see the "gimmick".

I wish I could figure out which one carried what. Each one of our local Walmarts here in San Antonio have widely different knife selections all the way down to crap in a blister pack.

Some have guns for sale, some don't. Size of the store doesn't seem to matter, nor does location. You only know for sure what the store has if you go there yourself and look.

I just picked up an OD1 at wally world. Man is it sharp!! I really like it, Its kinda like a Leek but with a flipper! And very light in the pocket.
And Yes I also got my S30V Native there as well as a Kershaw Scallion.
I can never go there without perusing the knife display. I don't go there just to buy a knife it just happens sometimes. :)

I can relate my friend, went to get the big jug of Mobil 1 that they sell for cheaper than anyplace within a 20 mile radius and they didn't have the right oil filter, so I bought a Gerber Profile Fixed blade and another Buck 110 to get a nylon sheath.
Gander Mountain is selling the 110's for 29.95 with leather sheaths.
