I bought these at my local Wal Mart. I am very pleased with them, they seem to be very well made and the seams are very well taped. I have a couple of similar stuff sacks made by Granite Gear, these from Wal Mart seem at least as good if not better and are not nearly as expensive. They are made out of coated ripstop nylon, 1.9 oz I think. I have not done a water immersion test but I will. The blue one on top has my USGI poncho in it and is the perfect size for that. Oh yeah, most important $9.99 for all 3. ;) :D Chris

Great find! I saw those the other day and almost bought them.

Be sure to postup the results from you testing.

I have those as well. I got them a few months back and they work well. I have not tested their water resistance, but they are great for compression sacks. Nice score.

I've been eyeing them up at the local Wally World near me as well. heck, I guess I'll pick them up next time I'm there.

nice score.. those look great... especially coming from Wally... :o i have been meaning to pick a few more small stuff/dry sacks....

Patiently awaiting immersion test!...

I saw those yesterday, but wasn't sure how waterproof they would prove to be.

There is a pretty good wad of TP in there, give it a couple of hours and I will let you know.

Great buy. :thumbup:I have one I purchased from Campmor and paid more for it than you paid for all 3. I will have to stop at my Walmart and see if they carry them.

Pictures aren't necessary. Dry bags? Not quite, water resistant is about as far as I would go. Oh well, for 10 bucks I am still happy, they are still good stuff sacks. Chris

How bad did the contents get wet and how long was it submerged? Do you think it's worthwhile to put your spare clothes in them inside your pack?

Looks good. I bought a dry box at Wal-Mart for $5 that I use for kayaking. Heckuva lot cheaper than a Pelican, and it works just as well.

However, I will say that the outdoors departments at Wal-Marts in this area have gone way down hill. None carry guns anymore. Not a single one. I used to get closeout camo at a couple of them after each season. No more. And the fishing sections have become progressively worse over the years.

The box even says weather resistant. Not weather or water proof. Either way, still a decent deal.

Next time you're there, check out the hardware isle. I found 1/4"X45' Wellington PP utility cord for 75¢ on clearance. Only 30# strength and only available in hot pink and yellow but still a good deal.

Paper was wet but not soaked, 2 hours and yes.

IMO that was a pretty harsh test, it was totally immersed in a sealed container. I would not trust it for rafting or canoeing but inside your pack in a rain storm I think your clothes would stay dry. Chris

Same hear - We're pretty much down to a half of an isle of fishing gear and the camping isle shares a row with foldling camp chairs, coolers and other random crap. I used to get some good deals on my salt water fishing gear, but now it's hit or miss. Dicks Sporting Goods is fairly close so that's usually where I end up.

Walmart is pretty much not even carrying camo near me anymore. No guns and a very small selection of knives. No Spydercos, a few Kershaws, a fair amount of Bucks but no 110s.

When I picked up these stuff sacks I noticed that the ammo was mighty thin and all the guns are on sale, leads me to believe they won't be around long. Sad days we live in, when I was a kid every local hardware store had a schrade display, case xx display and a rifle rack behind the counter, sure wish I could go back in time. Chris

I hear ya bro - I tell my wife all the time that should have been born 30 years before my actual birthday.

I got those same bags a couple of years ago and have been using them for motorcycle travel. They work great, except that one got a hole rubbed through it by vibrating against something.

RB,

Thanks for the heads-up on these... My wife was going out tonight to practice spending my money (she currently holds a black belt in shopping, but she working towards the coveted rainbow sash..), and I told her about these. She picked a box of the sacks and a Foster's Ale, so life is good... I'm gonna pack some first aid supplies from my French rucksack in one now! Thanks again.
