Drop points are more all around useful.

Clip points don't really have a practical application in modern-day life where we so rarely stab people (or stab other dangerous creatures).

But......what they do accomplish is to add nice lines, sweep and beauty of form to a knife.

Well I spent the last 20 years buying the one hand opening cool knives, but in the past year I have bought 5 Buck knives, and plan on buying alot more, so maybe the trend is going back into Bucks favor. I know Buck could make alot of money on custom oldies if they tweeked that section a little. I would buy alot of custom Kalingas and Frontiersman big time if they were on the custom page and plan on buying at least 7 to 10 Custom 110s in the future.

Iconoclast > noun. A person who attacks cherished beliefs, traditional institutions, etc., as being based on error or supersitution.

Anachronism > noun. Something or someone that is not in its correct historical or chronological time, especially a thing or person that belongs to an earlier time.

For my part, I can live with that........300

My opinion is that the fact that most only seem to carry the 119 and the 110 is that it must have been a better seller. If it's not moving off their shelves they're not going to keep it. For instance a friend of mine owns the local hardware store and I asked him why he no longer carries Bucks, he said he sells a lot more cases so he dropped Buck. Lots of hunters shop at wally world, by self included.
Personally I have always liked a drop point over a clip especially in aesthetics and more often than not it's more practical for me.
However there are some clips that I do like.
While the black phenolic handle is a trademark of buck it really doesn't do much for me.
It keeps being said Buck needs to stay with the times, but when I see there selection on their website, it appears to me that they've got a very wide selection including modern looking knives.

At the same time, I think totally banning any mention of non-advertisers in any context is not what the rules are meant to convey (at least not according to my reading of them).

Hi Pinnah,

You've summed up my question/issue in the statement above. I appreciate your comments.

With all the talk of rules violations,,, where are the rules? I went searching for the rules and have yet to find them.

I noticed last week that our local WM had dropped the 119. Right now they still have the 110, a paclite, and a couple of the chinese Bucks. But they started carrying more sogs and Gerber bear gyles knives. I think it really boils down to everyone wants to have the newest coolest most tactical survival knife possible. I still carry a 110 everyday. My pocket knife switches between a Case or one of my old Bucks. Why I dont have a 119 I've thought about buying one just to have. I have always loved the looks of it.

WallyWorld still sells the 110 for <half of MSRP - which is the wholesale cost. They did that years ago with a Spyderco knife - briefly - they were withdrawn, as that just wasn't fair to their retail sellers... and it still isn't. Other retailer's pay half MSRP plus s/h for the knife - how can theycompete and keep the lights on? The only saving grace is their return policy - that unwanted gift of a Gerber BG's knife can be taken back and traded for Lady Gaga's latest CD (Barf!) or some undies. W-W holds no magic for me nowadays - I'll pay more now at Publix for cat litter, even, to avoid W-W. Also blame the fear of running into some of the 'People of WallyWorld' we see the photo collections of so often.

I have for years suggested that the best Buck 110 is a Buck Custom Shop 110 made to order for you. Buck isn't a paid advertiser... is that 'deal-spotting'??

I was told by Blues (or one of the super mods) that this is a Buck (sponsored?) subforum and it was perfectly fine to post anything from their catalog, web specials, etc. including prices.

Is was me. :) You're correct. Buck is a manufacturer and obviously has their own forum on this site. You can absolutely do everything you listed.
