want a tiny knife that is cheap and can take abuse

Along with the others suggested, take a look at the Benchmade BenchmiteII. I love my Kershaw Baby Boa, but I keep it clipped to my pocket. I have too much stuff on my keychain already.

I have one of the original A. G. Russell Pen knives, without the bail, and it is a great little blade. It just disappears in your pocket, and I have to be careful not to forget I'm carrying it, and let it go through the wash, which it has a few times with no damage. I just bought a new one with Black-lip pearl handle, and it is a gem. Although very tiny, the blade is useful, and has opened lots of mail, and several boxes. It's also great for removing splinters.

You need one. FYI, A. G. is coming out with a slightly larger version for only $5 more. This one doesn't have a bail, though. But it's perfect for me.

Just checked the web page and it looks like the larger version (2.5" blade) is available now!

Check out the Benchmade Benchmite II. It goes for about 20 bucks and is perfect for a keychain. I have the original Benchmite that went for about 80ish dollars and this one (although made in Taiwan) is definitely more bang for the buck. Bought one for the wife and I find myself using it and wishing I had gotten two of them.

Second the Boker, go for the Plus in AUS8. Wearing a canvas or web belt and the Boker clips right on looking like an extra buckle. Always the little "go to" knife is the Buck Strider 881SP. Just as tough as anything out there in this size. Take off the clip and put on a lanyard and she rides beauty in the back pocket.

That Subcom Folder can take some pretty good abuse. Should see what some of the folks on the spyderco forum have done with thiers.... think Chad (Daywalker on the forums) has shuddered a few times reading about it ;)

I've been beating on a stainless dragonfly for 5yrs so far, still rock solid. Can't see an end in sight, and plan to keep beating on it till it dies (simply to see what it can take).

Just got a 2006 Forum Lava today (also one of Chad's designs). Should be interesting to see what this little guy can do, I know he's beat on his proto a lot.

The small Douk-Douk is extremely sharp and you can also try L'Ecureuil (The Squirrel) which is a variant of the Douk-Douk with a spearpoint blade. Carbon steel, strong backspring slipjoint, good bail for a lanyard and no clip.

Opinel sells small models that would fit the bill. I've seen pictures online of some with keychains pre-installed, but you could easily drill a hole into the handle yourself.

I'd take a look at Classic sized SAKs myself. Something like a Rambler or Alox Classic.

For the last couple of years I've been using a Victorinox classic as a back-up as well as a beater knife on my keyring. Its held up very well, does a respectable job of cutting in real world day to day use. At 8.95 at Target, its a great buy. Plus the little sissors are really sharp and very functional.

I vote for the Kershaw 1710. $10 at Wallmart. I accidentally unnerved the cashier who was helping me because I opened it up and closed it with one hand.

Haven't posted in a while, thought I'd sound off on this one, as I am leaning to smaller knives for edc. I carry a buck 285 and a frosts (not frost, but frosts of sweden)sheath knife at work. I had been carrying a tiny little gerber, but it dulls easily. so i got a sog twitch II, which i'm getting used to, its still a bit tight. Lowes hardware started carrying them. However, I was at wal-mart, and saw the Kershaw Ace for under 10 bucks, and couldn't resist, seeing as how I was paid today. It wasn't as sharp out of the box as I have known Kershaws to be, and its a little slippery for my hands to try opening one handed, but I like the feel. I'm going to put it on the stone now. my $.02
