I'm going fixed blade crazy. I just got 3 RAT's and I want more! I hear lots of good things about Bark River but I've never even held one. I'm particularly interested in the convex grind. There are a ton of models to choose from and it's driving me nuts. I'd like some suggestions for something I can EDC or use as a dayhiker.

I also see Fallkniven F1's customized by BRKT, so there's another option. I've heard great things about that knife too, I just don't see the point in laminating stainless VG10 steel. From my experience with Murray Carter products, laminated blades are supposed to have a high carbon content steel core, thus the outer layers of stainless have a purpose. But it's not a deal breaker.

So the real question is get a genuine BRKT or a Fallkniven hybrid?

Barkies are great, and there is one to suit all tastes and uses. I have a Mini Canadian that is a good edc, and a Northstar for going out in the woods.

Their 12C27 blades are awesome. Give them a call and they can and will assist you with your decision making process.

check out dlt trading under misc. barkies to find yourself a sweet deal on your first barkie... just to make sure you like them.

I just ordered my first Bark River. Its an Aurora with antique Ivory Micarta handles. Should be here early next week.

I cant wait!

Of all my Barkies my Aurora gets the most use.I love em all but I just seem to keep reaching for it as my woods knife.

The Highland Special has had my attention for awhile now, but they all seem well designed. I don't think you can go wrong with BRKT, no matter what you choose. :)

For my next Barkie, I want one the size of my Mini Canadian, but pointier. I like the looks of the Pro Scalpel and Micro Tusk. Maybe the Little Creek . . . so much for downsizing my knife accumulation.

Be very careful. Barkies are crazy addictive! I've yet to see one that I didn't like. You'd be hard pressed to make a bad choice. Whatever you get, I would recommend you get something with a leather sheath. Most Bark Rivers come with great leather sheaths.

I've had mine for a few weeks but it hasn't made it out to the field yet. A buddy and I are bike camping next week for 4 days and it will get run through its paces.

I have made a sheath for it, just to add an extra level of security. I'm not used to spending $200.00 on a knife and just don't want to worry about loosing it out of a pouch sheath.

I recently got a couple of Bark Rivers; the 1855 Bowie (154 CM) and the Clax (N690). I am very impressed with the workmanship and they are sharp and strong. Heavy duty.

I love my Barkies; a Mikro Canadian and a Mini Skinner. They are beautifully made and a lot of knife, given the sizes. The Mini is a great walk in the woods knife and I keep it in a pocket sheath when I'm in town.

I'd also agree with the Mini Skinner. A great EDC knife and woodsbumming knife. I'd also look at a mini northstar or a Kephart Companion. I think the only place to get a Kephart Companion is knivesshipfree.com

Also check out the Pro Scalpel II for a nice EDC knife.

Still having trouble deciding but I think I'm going to pull the trigger soon. Still gawking at the Canadian Special, Bravo 1, and now the Drop Point Hunter.
