So the knife got here today. And I just want to say thanks again to Dave and Gordon. I'v actually never seen one of these before, I was rather shocked when I opened up the package at first I thought it was a switchblade and it took me a few seconds to figure out how to use it haha. But I really like this knife and I just want to thank everyone, you have no idea how much I appreciate this!

By the way, sorry for the crappy pictures my friend may be spending the night and I'm cleaning my room so I don't have time to try to get a good picture.

glad you like it guy!!
luck of the wife's picking...
jest one more to arrive at its new home...
trying to think of what will do on summer give away..

Enjoy the Knife Zack!! It looks like a nice one.
Dave you da man. Next time I drive down to maybe I should stop by for some of that shed juice. :)

Okay, my apologies for posting late. I got the knife last week, and I love it. Great idea on the 110 concept. I'll see about posting pics as soon as the camera battery charges.

Dave: thank the wife for 'choosing so wisely'! :D

Oh, and if by "shed juice" you mean moonshine, we call that stuff "lightnin' water" down in some parts of the Carolinas. Next time I'm back there, I'll see if I can scrounge some up without getting shot. I had an uncle who made it for years to fuel his farm equipment, so I was familiarized with it earlier on. (As anyone who's familiar with that "product" knows, there's only one way to check for quality. ;) )

Maybe our brother Psychopomp can scrounge some up and send it your way.

thx - cpr

id love to see some pictures :)

Here they are; I'll see how these turn out.

Some notes:

- I snagged the clip on the 486 on the arm of a chair, and it's sprung outward. (The clips on these seem to be very soft steel.) I have another I'm going to replace it with, since my son is left-handed anyway; or, I may turn it into a neck knife, with a kydex sheath & ball chain.

- I would estimate that the 486 weighs maybe half what the 110 weighs, give or take a few 10th's of an ounce. My first thought when I got it from Dave was that it reminded me of the A.G. Russell neck knife, only a little longer. The 486 would ride great folded up in a kydex neck sheath.

- It locks up solid, with no up/down play, and just a tiny amount of side play, which I assume must be there for proper operation. Blade grinds are even, and well executed.

Buck 486 has dual thumb studs; these are very
well designed, and are positioned just right for
one-handed opening:

Thanks! Actually, a couple were free - the 486 from you, and the little 505 from another member. That one will be going to a scout either this year or next, depending on who needs one. My son kind of likes that 486 you sent, so it will be living in his drawer soon, I think. (I will have NO say in the matter, just so you know. ;) )

The first nice knife I ever bought was a 119, that my grandmother allowed me to buy with my allowance money; the 119 has had a 'special' - no pun intended :D - place in my heart ever since.

Thanks again for the knife, and I hope you & the wife are well, as much as is possible.

thx - cpr
