Hey guys, the other day I started a post stating that I wanted a good Sog folder for around 80 dollars. Well, I decided to pass on the Sog and now I am looking to spend 180 dollars on a good folder instead.
I really don't know what folder I am looking for, so I am open to any suggestions in that price range. I realize it is up to me, but I am interested in suggestions from my fellow forum members. I want something with a medium thick blade preferably in s30v steel or above, it doesn't matter if it's carbon steel or stainless. I prefer the blade length to range from 3 to 3.5 inches. I want the handles to either have liners or be made out of a durable material such as aluminum or titanium.
It doesn't really matter what country it is made in as long as the quality is there. Thanks guys

Durable with a good steel, 3.6" blade length and solid liners describes a Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1 or 2.

Otherwise a Benchmade 710-1401 (M390) or a Benchmade 908bk-1501 (M4).

Benchmade 940 $182
Benchmade griptilian 551-1 $178
Spyderco pm2 cpm-s110v $152
Spyderco endura 4 zdp-189 $106
Zero tolerance 0450 $160

I forgot to mention the opening and locking mechanism. As far as opening goes, I'm fine with thumb studs, spydie hole, or flipper. Locking mechanism, I prefer liner lock, back lock, or compression lock. The triad lock would be ok too since it works similar to a back lock. Thanks for the replies so far

Yeah, I like good durable folders. The Gayle Bradley is one I am considering. Wasn't one of the Gayle Bradley's discontinued?

The Zero Tolerance 0350 hits all of your requirements. It's delightfully overbuilt, and the ergonomics are outstanding.

I'm partial to the tiger striped version, but they also make black DLC, stonewashed, and blackwash versions.

The GB1 was, the GB2 is slightly lighter in the form of an easier knife to EDC, but it is still a capable work knife.

For under $180 , I recommend the Spyderco Yojimbo2 S90V DLC w/ brown G10. It's $168 and it's SICK!

The regular Yo2 in S30V and black G10 is also great and is only $126.

In your first post you say you want a knife in s30v but then go on to say you don't care if it is carbon or stainless. S30v is a stainless powder steel and so does not come in carbon.

The reason I bring it up is because it seems to me you are fairly new with steels and probably thus do not have alot of experience sharpening. I recommend something in 154cm or maybe VG10 which are wonderful steels in their own rights but I think will be much better for you to learn some sharpening skills on.

Otherwise what are you going to do when the knife goes dull? Another recommendation is to get a cheap knife and practice away on that.

Though I do have to give credit for asking about sharpening equipment and skill.

As another post replied, I said ( S30V or above) meaning I want premium grade steels. I'm not a master sharpener but I can put a nice edge on my knives.

OP like recommendations on close to 4 inches blades.Does it mean your criterion of 3-3.5 really does not matter? If so,

- Spyderco Military cts 204p kw exclusive for $200
- ZT 0804cf for $200
- ZT 0909 for $145
- ZT 0630 for $160
- Benchmade Ritter m390 for $140
- Benchmade 710-1401 for $180

I prefer to keep it below, but if I really like the knife I would get something close to 4.
