I just got my new venom green Izula from Blade HQ yesterday. I was wrapping the handle, holding the blade in the sheath and when I cinched the cord, the blade popped out and then went into my hand. Not exactly sure how, but it did. Is the Izula sharp? Well, I got 7 stitches in my thumb and 6 in my index finger. Despite this, it's a great knife, and I love this new color.

Not the greatest pictures, but i was having a hard time getting the camera to focus.

I'm going to answer 'very sharp...'
I nicked myself on my new Delica yesterday, but it pails in comparison to this baby. That, my friend, is pretty damn epic...

Whiskey and Vicadin; doctor's orders.

This is by far the worst cut(s) I've ever had and I've been using knives all day, every day at work for the past 13 years. 13 stitches for 13 years I guess. @%*# happens!

oh man tell me about it, when I first got my Izula II it sliced my left index finger from the side of the nail down to the middle of the finger pad, those blades come stupid sharp from the factory

You're like the hundredth person to have an Izula pop out of the sheath and bite. There should be a general warning to tape those things up, or stop wrapping them when they're in the sheath or something--people think this is the safest way to do it until they go to cinch that not up and "pop" here come some stitches.

Yep I did exactly the same thing, last knot and pop.....emergency room severed artery and nerve nicked the tendon. Worst part was it was 2 izula's my daughter got to give as christmas presents for her friends. Last time I will use paracord on mine, scales only from now on. lol.

Hope you heal well and quickly

Dude its crazy because the izula bit u twice in one sitting. Heal fast and save me a vicadin.

Ouch....wish you speedy healing. The Izula does come very sharp. I just received mine (OD color) yesterday and it is my first ESEE. I am impressed by the factory grind and finish. With a little stropping, this little blade gets crazy sharp.

Same thing happened to me, wrapping the handle of my old hest and it popped out of the sheath..... TAPE YOUR EDGES UP WITH MASKING/DUCT TAPE!!!! Don't even use the sheath when wrapping handles. 9 stitches later, I was fine. This was about 2 years ago...

That's gotta smart. That knife is now officially yours and best wishes for a fast recovery.

Now that you've been properly acquainted, I hope you enjoy each others' company. ;)

Same thing happened to me when I was wrapping my Eskabar. Not quite as bad as yours only 1 finger and 5 stitches.

Take note of the good advice above to remove the knife from the sheth and tape the blade before starting your cord wrap, that is excellent advice and one that I will follow. I am glad i read this post before I started wrapping mine.

Oo oh...
blood and 1095 don't mix ! Wipe your blade !!! ;)

Seriously... Hope you heal fast !

When it happened, it didn't hurt at all until after the stitches. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. This is actually the second Izula I own. I've had the other one for quite a while and they're great knives. Yes, definitely wrap that blade with duct tape!
