WARNING: Graphic photos! How sharp is a brand new Izula?

Well, they had me open those suckers up under the sink... burned like hell...

Yeah, I bet. Tap water is not the best option since it's hypotonic, and as a result, damages the cells of your exposed tissues. Normal Saline is the preferred irrigation solution for wounds.

I need me one of these izulas! lol some of those pics gave me the heebee geebees! :p

Man, you're seriously making me second guess these dr's. At the 48 hr check up, another doc told me to wash them daily with soap and water and maybe put a little betadine on them. Last time I had stitches, I just remember them telling me to keep them dry. Seems like you know what you're talking about, so what's your opinion on that? They look good so far and seem to be healing well.

I've never had trouble just using water and soap :) I wouldnt wash a fresh wound out before stitching with tap water (saline bottles are best for that, and I've had that done plenty lol) but for a stitched wound a couple days old you dont need to stress too much.

Washing with soap and water after they're closed for a couple days isn't a problem . You just want to make sure you're putting triple antibiotic (Neosporin or the like) ointment back on the wound with more dry sterile dressings. You don't want the wound to stay wet, but washing once a day isn't going to keep it wet. Wrapping it back up with a wet gauze, or keeping a wet gauze on it after it gets wet can cause problems. As for the normal saline versus tap water, you're not going to cause any real problems washing with tap water, but it's not going to feel good compared to normal saline. That's why it burns. Same for getting tap water in your eyes. Not as comfortable as getting saline in your eyes, since saline is the same salinity as your tears.

Wow. Glad you are alright. I had the exact scenario take place about 6 years ago with my Nemesis necker. Blade popped out and went across my thumb. I lived out in the boonies at the time so I just wrapped it up for a few days real tight and eventually it clotted and sealed up. I used some glue too. I didn't have medical coverage at the time so I had too improvise. Scar is still on my thumb in almost the same angle as yours.

Had something similar happen to me with my LMF II. My Izula has treated me well so far. I learned pretty quick to pull the LMF out properly.
