So someone stole your credit card information to buy contact lenses? How could you possibly know that this had anything to do with Knife Center? Just curious don't you make purchases from any other places with that specific card?

I just think it's a little hasty to post something like this making Knife Center look bad. I've been buying knives from Knife Center for years and never had a problem.

what i am getting at is that i think that there security software may have been temporarily breached

ok, we got that. The question is..... WHY do you think its knifecenter that is the cause of this? If your only reason is because it was the transaction that came closest in time frame to your fraudulent charge then I'm sorry its not good enough. You do realize this thread can negatively impact their business right? And unless you are sure that this issue can be traced to them this thread should not have been created. If it is related to them then all is fine in the world but I think you owe it to them to at least provide a tangible reason.

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, or "after this therefore because of this" describes the logical fallacy that since event Y followed event X, event Y must have been caused by event X. Like others are saying, you are assuming that because the fraud occurred after you purchased the knife, the fraud must have been caused by the knife purchase. But you haven't articulated any reason for drawing this conclusion. Simply demonstrating that Y followed X is not enough.

Mrs. Powernoodle and I have both had fraudulent transactions on our credit cards, but there is really no way of determining how someone got our data. All you can do is call the credit card company, challenge the charge, and have them issue a new card with a new number.

Its also strange that the contacts are being sent to you instead of someone committing the purported fraud, but that's a separate issue.

^^^ This sums it up perfectly.

Unless the only place you have ever used that particular card is KnifeCenter, it may be a bit premature to assume they were the source of the compromise. But now that you have evidence of fraudulent use of your card, call up the card company, and they'll close your old card and issue you a new one. They'll also cancel the fraudulent charges for you.

It kind of funny how OP thinks it's KC. You mean out of all the other ways your card could have been compromised its KC who's security was hacked.

I am hopped up on painkillers due to a shoulder injury, so I am going to make this simple.

1 - Knifecenter is one of the best online knife retailers in terms of both service and selection. I have spent WAY too much money with them and have yet to have a bad experience. In fact, every interaction I have had with them has been overwhelmingly positive.

2 - You have no proof or reason to believe that Knifecenter had anything to do with the $500 charge for contacts. No reason at all. Zero. Nada. Zilch. Squat. Nanimo. With that in mind, you should change the title of your post. It gives the impression that Knifecenter did something wrong when they did not.

Hope you don't end up losing $500.

Closing this for now. If someone wants to add anything that is verifiable or can provide any factual information regarding this issue, let me know. Until then, it is just hearsay.
