that little present probably did a number to your saphenous, looks like a couple more inches might done you for a femoral as well. Were you gunning? Was is command wire and did your boys follow that sh1t and blast his a$$? I wish I could buy you a steak and a beer, because it looks like that has presented lots of effort and discomfort to you.
 
that xray edit was comedy gold. i almost hate to ask but any idea what that shrapnel is from? as in from the device or something between you and the device? looks like gear of some sort but meh you have put way more thought into it than me probably.

Great to have as much out as you can.

Prolly still some thing in there that wants out making it need to drain.

On my wife's spinal surgery, out came a 1" long by 3/8ths" diameter plug(maybe a sponge) of some sort with a few cups of Goo, after the plug came out it healed up pretty good.

As far as what it was......I have NO clue. I have a piece about 6" by 3" that came out of the Hummer and it is easily id'd as an artillery shell, but that piece....never figured it out. I did have a piece of a bolt go through my hip. I have that one also.
