Just wanted to let y'all know about a review of the Ultimate Fighter, a Brand New Creation from HI, will be forthcoming in the somewhat near future.
The Ultimate Fighter is similar to the UBE but has a sharpened false edge that a lot of y'all have been clamoring for.
Miss Yangdu emailed me with the pic a few days ago and said that the Ultimate Fighter would be mine if I did a review on it.
How can anyone in their right mind turn down a deal like that? ;)

I received the Ultimate Fighter this morning around 10:30 a.m. and was shocked beyond belief because I wasn't expecting a 20" cross between a Velociraptor's tooth and claw!!!!
This thing is absolutely wicked!!!! :D

Spec's = Made by Bura.
OAL = 20-1/4" from point to the top edge of butt cap.
Weight = 2 Lbs 13 ounces!
Thickness at bolster = 9/16"
Thickness at bend = 1/2"
Thickness at 1" back from point = .275" or just a tad over 1/4"!
Width of blade at thickest point = about
2-9/16"
Width of blade at narrow point = 1-1/2"
Note the large nut screwed onto the tang to hold it all together! :D
And it came reasonably sharp as well.
The handle is at the absolute large size for me, any larger and I would have had to take it down a bit in order to use it.

I'll try over the next two to three weeks to get a real review together. This will have to be done between my times of therapy and what I'm able to do.
The first order on the agenda will be to put it on my Grizz and sharpen the nice thick almost convex edges to a razor's edge and then proceed from there. I'm planning on comparing it to the UBE I have. :D

Oh yeah, I'll bet y'all are wanting to see a pic of the Ultimate Fighter.:p
This is the one Miss Yangdu took and sent to me.

Any questions? ;)

Trying a new tact to see if I can get the pic up for y'all....

Go here and see if it will take you to the album.

Sound's interesting Yvsa....thing is I can't see the pic? I tried Firefox and AOL Exploer, otherwise the thing sounds dangerous! :D

Can't see the picture.

This sounds like an interesting knife. I'll look forward to seeing it and reading your review.

Kami Sherpa told me he favored a flat grind for fighters and a convex grind for choppers.

I put a new link in my original post. Go there and see if it will take you to the album.
I don't know why it isn't coming up as I've done this before.
In the meantime I'll go back and make sure the permissions are correct.
Thanks for the heads up.;)

Test, can anyone see this pic?

Aha! It's the Sher (not Bura) Movie Model, but with a deeper belly and without the bigger habaki bolster. The false edge looks about the same. The nut tang keeper is a cool addition as you said. That would make for quite a thumper on the butt! The leather sheath is a great idea as well, as I can hardly get the new MM back in the scabbard.

About the same weight and length as the newer Sher MM as well, but I really like the looks a lot more.

Nice companion to the UBE and Movie Models!

(I have to get in on this knife-for-review program! Some guys get all the luck...;) )

Norm

I get two thirds of the pic and the right side covered in advertising in the browser (Mozilla). the download button worked saving a copy to the puter here. may work for the rest of ya's

Yes, I can see it damn you! :D Talk about rubbing it in. Oh man I want to get my hands on that thing! What a beauty!

(A fitting picture for my 2000th post! )

Oh, my, Uncle...

I'll wait for the 17" version, I think- that thing looks STOUT! :D

Norm you can do the same thing with your Foxy Folly(s). This just happens to be the full sized one but soon my 17" Foxy Folly's will appear pretty much the same.
And of course I'll post pix when I get them finished.:p :D

This time I'm going to try to recover the scabbard myself instead of having Terry Sisco do it. I'm also thinking maybe buckskin instead of cowhide leather but haven't totally made up my mind yet.
The cowhide will of course wear better.

I'm really quite taken with this new Ultimate Fighter of Bura's. The more I handle it the better me likey.
I do wish the handle were just a tad smaller though.
It would fit you to a tee Norm!!!! :p ;) :D

I can see it from your link to the album, but the original picture and the one in the quote above don't show.

It seems to me that a false edge goes better on a bowie. The angle does not seem right on a khukuri. Let us know how you think in particular the false edge works.

Will do Howard.

I wonder how come Norm can see the pix and you can't? Maybe different browsers perhaps?
Can you see the pic in Norm's post?

Interesting looking.

Looking forward to hearing how it feels to swing it.

I can't see your picture as quoted in Norm's post either.

Hey Yvsa, the link to the pic works fine, but this pic of the FF did show and now doesn't a couple of hours later. (?)

Yep, more proof that it was meant for me! (-:

With your Grizzly though I'm sure you can get the handle to the perfect diameter in no time.

Can't wait to see more of these. HI is determined to keep me as a customer with all these new models.

Holy cave khuk batman! I am impressed. Over 2 lbs. I bet that thing would scare a criminal straight. I am waiting for the review with bells on. Do you know anything about the design? Is it a Bura design?

OMG!

Although I am 100% happy with my Bura Movie Model (20.25", 1 lb, 11.8 oz., long wicked & sharp false edge), this will bear close scrutiny... Thanks in advance, Yvsa.

Many thanks Mike. I don't know what the deal is. I've posted pix from the Yahoo site before with no problems. :(
Maybe I need to get a photobucket account or another one of the free ones.;)
