WARNING: VIBA_1 on EBAY

HE is no longer a registered user on ebay. Watch him. He'll be back. I got email from more than 15 people he had screwed. I feel VERY lucky.

francmeister, you've got that right. I am beginning to think ebay NEVER permanently bans a seller, irregardless of how worthless they are. Had one take > 90 days to deliver 2 of 4 paid for items, they were NARU'ed and (of course) after 30 days they returned. It is getting to the point where all I use ebay for is a "snapshot" of auction market value. Too many sellers with poor photos, overrated claims of items' condition and slow shipping. Also love how a lot of shipping and handling fees are cleverly disguised recuperations of ebay's listing and final value fees.

I use ebay all the time. Probably the best place anywhere to buy printer ink, 123a batteries, computer batteries, etc. I also have pruchased 1000s of $ of nativities, misc. paraphenalia, etc. I just bought a nativity from a seller -- it was badly damaged during shipping -- and on that word alone, the seller sent me a better and far more expensive replacement and will arrange to have UPS pick up the broken one (in early December when the shipping person gets back). You don;t get that service out of many brick and mortar stores. What we have learned from the viba_1 experience though is that even a seller with a >1000 positive rating can be a thief. There are a lot more sellers on ebay (50,000 items with the word "knife" in the title) so there will be a lot more thieves. But we have had our share right here in the bosom of the bf lodge. ebay likely has a higher percentage of thieves of course, but when NW knives or Classic guns & knives sells n ebay I bid with a lot of confidence...

Happy Holidays to all! (and perhaps viba_1 can have a nice time in jail somewhere).

Note that PayPal itself was fined $150,000 by NY for not living up to its protection claims, according to a CNN article posted on Monday, March 8, 2004. I imagine a search would find this or an equivalent article.

The article ends with:
"PayPal has clarified that it will investigate any claims about a deal as long as the complaint is made within 30 days of the purchase."

Good point! But ebay won't realy start helping until after 30 days. So know your rights...I really havn;t been burned on ebay many times.

I'm not sure what UPS did to be brought up in this thread, but I do know if Jim was told that only the shipper can track a package, that was way off. The first page on the ups.com website has a space for tracking, all that is required is you have the tracking #, which he said he had.

added on edit-
$100 insurance is included automatically, it had been my experience in the past they're fairly pro-active when it comes to filing (& getting paid) on a claim.
