Warranty Replacements....again

I've watched Man vs. Wild, Dual Survival, Man Woman Wild, and Survivorman. Does that count? J/K. Whilst in the Corp, we didn't get issued a big blade to survive out in the field.

However, now that I am a civilian, I want to get the big blades and play. Luckily I have come across some older RAT/Ontario blades (RAT Triangle logo on blade) at my local knife shop that I am going to play with before I buy the ESEE knives. And oh yes, I will buy them. I will admit, I'll baton some 4" African Sumac with them just to do it. Then play out in the field.

Another hint with starting out with an axe. Start out on your knees instead of standing. If you're kneeling down, your swing through will only go into the dirt, and not into you. When you feel comfortable, stand up..

That's what Ray Mears taught me (on Youtube). ;)

Also, I wanted to get an axe after watching this one...

Mostly so I could try making that kind of shelter.

Oh yeah, I'm not just an armchair bushcrafter! ;)

I hate winter. :grumpy:

Perfect time to practice making fire...

I can't think of a single time that I have batoned a knife without some sort of purpose for it, whether it be for a review or while practicing making a survival bow or shelter, etc.

So I take it you don't want to come with me on a minimal overnighter next month. Sleeping bag +15lbs of gear. Hike in and hike out. No tents allowed.

:(

I'm in. Tony, pay the airfare and I'm there. Bag and 15lbs of gear, thought you said minimal. What the temp? -10, -20? Moose:D

Shit, if you bring your BK-2 and lunch that's your 15lbs right there....:p

Lately the overnight has been averaging about 8F, but anything's possible mid Feb..

The tuff part is dealing with the 2-4 feet of packed snow that's covering the ground...

I remember a time when Tony would not sleep in the cold. Good to see ya changin your mind. You have enough snow I wanna see a high rise quinzee..

They had to call in front loaders to move the snow by my home. They piled it abut 25' high in some spots, if I wasn't so lazy I bet it could be possible:D

But for this trip, I have something different planned for a shelter. There will be 5 of us and I want 1 shelter for all 5.. I'll post pics when I get back.

Wish you could make it Jake. Oh and it's not sleeping in the cold that bothers me, it's the damn waking up part that gets me..:grumpy:

I finally got all my 0 degree gear in that I bought, now its 50 degrees here.

Can't wait to see what you come up with on the shelter should be good.

And just so you don't wander what's up, who you plan on spooning this time, I was hoping you'd PP me some airfare and I would be lucky enough to be the spoon, I was gonna comb my back hair and get it permed for ya!!:D:D

Some times people amaze me. how hard is it to follow the rules? Such a good knife its a shame it went to someone so dumb.

All these plans of snow shelter bromance aside...
Jeff, please insult this guy some more, and then you can send me the replacement for his phantom knife.
I hope it was an ESEE 4 or a Junglas.
