Warren Thomas will steal your money!

I wanted to post an update to share the conclusion of this mishap with anyone who might be interested. I have now received two knives. Neither are what I ordered and originally discussed with Warren Thomas back in October. Actually, they are not even close. I wrote an email saying so but have not received a response. Of course I give up at this point.

I can't really say I'm surprised. Shao talked a great line about how he was going to make sure you were taken care of. I'd not be surprised to find out that it was actually Warren himself using a different machine with a different IP to try throw people off his trail.

It's funny this thread popped back up tonight, I was just looking at the eBay seller (Shao) store and thinking, "damn, there sure are a lot of knives on here from WT".

My point being, he's very obviously producing new blades for his friend Shao to sell on eBay, lots of blades in fact, so why the hell can't he keep up with orders?

While I like the look of some of his designs, the numerous issues with WT over the years are enough to keep me away. Good luck in getting things straightened out.

I don't have a dog in this fight but also thought it was funny that the guy has 100+ knives on ebay, so he is producing knives, but can't keep up with the backorders.

Sorry to hear, but don't give up.
Post like yours also helps others to hear about what Warren Thomas is doing.
I'll give you the same advice I gave you a couple of months ago. Demand your money back, and be done with him.

See, my first thought about all of those knives was "Daaaaaaamn, these are ugly". Some of them literally just look like he took broken shards of material and then just sharpened all the edges, drilled a couple holes in it, and called it done.

Although honestly, I can see why Warren would be more interested in stocking an Ebay store than in filling out direct custom orders. When you have to deal with a customer who has paid you money in order to receive a product done to their unique specifications, that creates the expectation that you're going to produce that unique item, and in a timely fashion. However, when you're just churning out whatever you want, and an Ebay buyer is buying whatever's available, that takes a lot of stress off. "Don't like the design? Move on, and don't buy from me!" Not a lot of requirement to make an item just so, when you're not working to paid-for exacting specifications.

It probably removes a large amount of stress off Warren to just churn out whatever and throw it up where it sells to...well, folks that like those designs.

I always admired WT's work back in the day (aside from the chisel grinds) but I sure won't be doing any business with him.
"My email and phone got hacked a year ago so I'm completely ignoring everyone who paid for my services, unless you're my close friend who's paying a premium and selling everything on fleabay."
Wow. Just wow.

Yes, get your money back.
Folks who do wrong MUST be held accountable or nothing will change.
fwiw- I had only positive experiences with Warren. I'm sorry that this went down.

Look at Black Secret Technologies on the bay, they have plenty of his work. His work has gone down to just grinding scrap. Its kind of sad.

Send those pieces back and get your money refunded.

This was pretty much my second thought, some are legit designs and pretty cool looking (like the Perrin's). Others, well they just look like he took a piece of scrap left over from cutting out another blade and tried to turn it into something functional, but came up short.

I can understand too. It's also a good way to keep money coming in from producing blades while completely falling off the map and ignoring previous orders/customers.

Yeah you best cut your losses and never deal with them again at this point. I looked at those "knives" on eBay and wow, most of them are just pointy objects designed to maybe be some sort of weapon. Knifeart also has a couple of dozen of his folders for sale. None of the strange blades/pointy things though. It's also bullcrap his "buddy" says WT is "terrible at customer service" promises to get it straightened out then they still send the wrong knives. Seems he isn't too good at it either!

May I add, that Warren is a fantastic maker and grinder. This is no excuse for bad behavior either but Warren has had some personal problems also.
Sure, Warren's knives are designed like this on purpose, Jill. You know better.

I don't have to like them, do I? You should know better. Oh and BTW, he actually designed some of that stuff? As in put thought into it?
