Saw a guy with a strider. Was the first time I've seen something other than gerber. My girlfriend just kind of rolled her eyes. Anybody ever seen quality knives on people and wondered how they aquired it, or even if they're a bladeforums member? I had never seen a strider in person until today.

My mechanic had a spyderco strapped to his pocket.. Where I work, we get shippments of books, one of the truck drivers had a Kershaw (think it was the Boa) kinda squiggly pocket clip..

Saw someone with a Spyderco Police at the shooting range... There aren't as many people with quality knives there as you'd expect, though.

Most people around here carry Gerber and Buck.
I did see a Spyderco clip once or twice at a Gun Show.

All my friends carry lower priced kershaws, timberlines, schrades, or spydercos, but I rarely see anyone that I don't know with a nice knife. One of my friends who I hadn't seen in awhile was like "Derek I got a knife!" I was super excited, until he pulled this one out:

Kershaw is about the highest priced knives i have seen on someone in person, oh and once an Ontario Utilitac

I laugh when I see people at flea markets crowded around tables covered in made in China knives. They don't know that anything and everything they buy there will break if put under minor stress.

I rarely, if ever see someone carrying a pocket knife with them. Doesn't stop me from looking for them, though. :)

The HVAC guy that came to my house last week had a Spyderco Military that he was using to clean some goop out of the threads on a fitting. He said it was his 2nd one since he lost the 1st that he'd had with him in Kosovo and Iraq. I thought it was very cool.;)

One of my friends whipped out an Microtech Ultratech, and He normally carries a some Wally World CRKT, i asked him what was up? he said that he had been obsessed with getting a Microtech ever since he saw one on 24. Outside of a shooting range or something, I rarely see any knives, let alone something serious

Most people I see/know that carry everyday don't carry much that's worth over $50, $60 bucks. There are one or 2 exceptions, but usually the "expensive" knives stay home to open the mail. They don't want to scratch'em or loose'em is the usuall answer as to why they don't carry them. Which, honestly, is why I don't have any big money blades anymore... I use and abuse what I carry, and would cry doing it to something that cost me $150 or more. Spyderco's are about the most common I notice in public as far as the "nicer" blades go.

had a homeless man pull a ka-bar out of a gun holster, point it at me (at about 5 feet away) and say, "nonexistent." somewhat common knife displayed under unusual circumstances.

The only people that I know that carry anything of real quality are me my brother and two of my friends who i harrased untill they picked up some quality steel. Spyderco Military may be the Best EDC knife ever made :D

Lol, I've seen people do this at gun shows, too. People who will pay for an HK or Sig Sauer over a Ruger because of the quality difference, but won't bother to take a closer look at their knives. I saw a guy pass up an old Benchmade mini AFCK for $30 and walk over to some of the flashier Chinese junk knives nearby (I think you can guess what happened to the BM).

I know two people who carry knives. One has an inexpensive Buck Nobleman Framelock ($22) and I haven't asked the other person because I don't know him very well. I see a Leatherman belt pouch every once and a while and that's it. The first "knife guy" I've actually bumped into was at REI a week ago, but I didn't have time to talk to him. Virtually no one in NJ carries a knife.

While in was in Bass Pro Shops in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, someone asked for a knife and about five other people besides me reached for theirs. I was more than happy to know I wasn't alone.

I was talking to a guy at work one time who I've worked around for years about the Indy 1500 gun & knife show. Told him I was wanting to go since I was getting into collecting knives. He asked me what kind of knives I was interested in and I told him that I was really liking Busse. Turns out that he's owned some of the nicest Busse's around. That was kind of a shocker.

He's turned into a pretty good friend and has given me some killer deals.

The majority of what i see are flea market and gas station types 3 dollar pakistan made knives on people. Talking folders. If I see anything nice, its usually a buck 110 in its sheath belt carry. On fixed blades I do see allot of customs, like randalls, and such. Don't see allot of fixed blade production made though round here. Never semi production like striders. Not popular at all where I am. For that kind of money people round here have a custom made. Also more hunting or bushcraft styles are popular around here.
