Just wanted to give you guys a heads up of my expierence with dvlvs8. Posted a spyderco for sale in the production folders section. This morning I got two emails stating he wanted the spyderco and asking for my shipping info for payment. He also posted he is taking it on the sale thread. Sent him the information. Then a couple hours or so pass. He says he changes his mind he has another opportunity. He replied he would change the thread response to coincide with his changed status. Still as of now 12:42 pm the post is still up of him wanting the knife. Six hours from the time he sent the initial email about wanting the knife.

Short story even shorter. It's a pain when members decide to post I'll take it and back out of the deal.
I understand that minds change. But if your not certain of wanting a , knife ask questions and come to a conclusion before you post you will take the knife. Saves both sides from having any issues. Just my own three cents. Do with it as you please. This is the only time this has happened to me. I've seen others have similar issues with other members. Just screws up the chances of sale be that slight or largely.

Would piss me off also.
It's been said so many times, but I guess it needs to be said many more.
I'll take it, means I'll take it......PERIOD.
Another opportunity?? Gimme a break.
Hopefully it doesn't effect your sale brother.

Yeah. I cant say I'm surprised. Its one of the few names on this forum I actually remember.

Has happened to me a dozen times at least.
Pictures taken, uploaded and sent with endless questions back and forth, then nothing.
Buyer either disappears or changes their mind.
It takes a bunch of time creating ads here and to have them pushed off the top of the page because of an "I'll take it" that doesn't take it just wrecks our threads, and we can't relist or bump within certain time frames so that just means I have to make a new thread.
This behavior should be treated exactly the same as when someone comes into a thread and ruins it with comments unrelated to the sale.

While having this happen isn't rare,I have experienced it dozens of times, having your own sticky is.
At least you heard from him. I have had many that totally disappear after the I'll take it and asking for payment info. By the time I realize it is a dead deal, my thread is on page 3 and the buyers are gone.
To some their word means everything, to others nothing

I agree.

Yup, he has a nasty history here. I was surprised he was not banned for the garbage he has pulled. Maybe this time?

And if you deal in the exchange (buy sell trade), take the time to search the username of the person you are dealing here in the GB&U, it only takes a moment. You would have seen his history and known to respond with "no thank you" and post in the thread immediately "still available".

I don't like to talk bad about people, but he did the exact same thing to me today in my sale thread on a PM2. I think he did it to my ad and then moved on to yours.

There are some really easy steps to keep from having a bad experience on the BFC Exchange:

Check the user name here in GBU... this one would have been easy, as this guy has his own sticky here;

Don't pay with friends and family;

There is no such thing as "LNIB";

Just some basics, but ignore the basics at your peril.

It's clearly stated in the rules that this type of behavior won't be tolerated...

Rules For The Exchange & Discussion Forums
SECTION 2 - Rules/Procedures for Selling, Buying, Trading, & Offering Services:
Buyers/Buying -
6. Malicious Buyers will be permanently banned from the forums. Repeatedly flaking on deals and buying items only to turn around and complain is also not a good idea. Don't waste our time.

Guy has a long history in GB&U
He has been on many members radar
And ignore list
He has claimed a knife in one of my
Threads. I sent him a messsge I have
Chosen not to sell to him

Thusly I state in my threads
" I have the right to refuse sale to
Whom ever I wish. Without explaining
My decisions "

Do your homework. Cut and paste the members
Name and see what pops
Then make a decision
Money or a deal should not drive the
Way we should carry ourselves in BF

I completely understand this. It is, in fact, the normal arrangement out in the world. But it also means "I'll take it" does not equal a "deal." The deal is made when the buyer's offer to buy is accepted by the seller.

Members who have a pattern of making offers to buy and then retracting them ought to be publicly outed because of the the practical effect on the seller trying to get his knife sold. Very frustrating, I'm sure, and this guy's the poster boy for jerking sellers around.
