So, I was given some tax return money to spend by my wife. I had enough to buy a Battle Mistress (have been eying one for 3 years now).
I am just finishing up my law degree, which means poor ville (thus the 3 years of drooling, but not feeling I could drop the scratch on one). I finally had enough to buy one, and of course the supply of the ones I was interested dried up on the exchange. Then my wife says I need to put some toward the stereo in her car (well, when the 2 year old stuffs coins in the cd slot that tends to break things). Ok, that is alright.

But I have been needing a leather motorcycle jacket for a while, years longer than I even knew I needed Busse (the "need" is strongest right after some knuckle head tries to kill me on my bike, which happens lots). The jacket I want is on sale for like $200+ off. It was $384 for the jacket, so I could have bought my dream Busse........ for a few bucks more.

My wife is going to buy me a graduation gift worth more than a Battle Mistress, but refuses to even think about making that my gift (she thinks I already have too many knives/guns/weapons).

I know I will be regretting this decision for a while until either A: I graduate and get a job and buy one, or B: Some knuckle head finally manages to run me over, and the jacket saves a few yards of my tender skin.

Do I deserve to be in the Busse hall of shame for making this decision? (made all the worse in that I have no Infi at all).

your safety is more important than a knife. you may regret not getting an fbm, but consider how much you would regret not having proper safety gear if you are injured riding your bike.

That thought has crossed my mind more times than I can count. Especially when hitting a patch of gravel on a twisty highway at 85mph in a lean wearing no helmet, or jacket...........that was one scary fish tail and drift toward the railing and a 50foot drop to sharp rocks........I used to ride a lot with no helmet, which I have quit since having a kid.

Great decision!. . . Safety first!. . .

Cool jacket!!!! :cool::thumbup:

Jerry :D

Well, if Jerry tells me Safety First, I guess that is about as official endorsement as I can get.

Nope, but now you owe me $467 for using my copyrighted photograph!! :grumpy::grumpy: I am well represented by the attorneys at the law firm of Dewey, Cheatum & Howe... And they will make you very sorry, my friend!!!! Ya should have just bought the knife!!

;) :D:D:D (The jacket WAS the wiser choice. ...Might even save your life. LOL, ...Was just kidding above!!)

I think you made an excellent choice. It will only make that day all the sweeter when you finally do acquire the blade of your dreams!

Jaxx, Ha, I was hoping you would notice that bit of pilfering. I looked back a few pages to find that one. That color combo is just the nicest of any of them!........I always wanted to send you a trade offer for a Bushmaster AR pistol for that one and an one of the muddy AD or MS you had up. (I know I could just sell it, and buy one off the forums...I had a knuckle head offer me $750 for it, then tell me he could not legally own it, as he was from California). Just hold that one, then sell it when I tell you that I am done with school and have a job again!

LOL, couldn't resist, and glad ya caught the humor of that post! ;):D :thumbup: ...Don't worry, finish school, get a good job... Then you'll have the extra dough to score some great Busse's without going broke. You're on the right path.

Jaxx, the funny thing about that is after being in law school, I am always thinking about being sued (including for intellectual property things like using another's picture)! Luckily I scrolled down just a few inches and saw the Just kidding part of the post. But you must have eagle eyes to have spotted it that quick! that must by why your avatar is glowing animal eyes.

Geez, ya spent your whole life investing in your future that is now just starting to happen. Glad to hear you are going for the leather over the steel. There will be other infi, unless Jaxx buys it all first. :D

I must play devils advocate. Your telling me your picking fashion over substance?

Your INFI addiction has not fully blossomed. Now come on, there MUST be another type, fabric, or thick ass denim that will cover your hide and suffice for now. Do you want to look good too? Sorry, no sympathy from me. I believe you can be just as "safe" using shopping discretion and patience.

To me...the choice was obvious.

Always pick a piece of steel first, then worry/compromise later.

(sarcasm off) hmmm...really?

ITs funnier without the disclaimer at the bottom:D:thumbup:

Jaxx you ROCK!!!!!!

[insert my .02]

In the end, it's only your choice that matters. I agree that it was better to buy something you needed than something you wanted. On the other side of the coin, you could've gotten a cheaper jacket and been covered and still went for the mistress. Jackets are alot easier to find than FBM's, and the prices of jackets don't increase as they become harder to get like INFI. It's not like you can go to a store and pick out a particular Busse. (Except for the BCS, and then you only gets what you gets)

Then again, that's half the fun of INFI, hunting for your particular grail knives. [end my .02]

You should compromise and get a jacket made out of battle mistresses.

Man, when you strap on INFI, it's like a coat of armor!! All you need then is a stahl helm, sun glasses and a white tee shirt and you're ready to ride!

Reminds me of a neighbor a long time age. He bought a $300 Bell helmet which was, of course, strapped to his seat when he bit it. Jaw & dental reconstruction and loss of most of one ear but the helmet still looked brand new!! The road ain't gettin' no softer, cover up and live long enough to get a real job and GET THAT BUSSE!!!

I have a BMW motorcycle. I believe in ATGATT. I also believe you can park that ride, and take a bus, stick your thumb out, whatever it takes.

But...(narrowing eyes), must have more knives. Think about it, hmmm...that beautiful FBM with snake skin slabs. It's there. Right there. So close.

My hands are shaking. Got to visit the Co. store.
