I saw jhalb's sale thread here and noticed the following:

A lot of people ask for 3.5% in fees when the actual fee is 2.9% plus $.30 cents per transaction (barring international and other special transactions). I know it's probably none of my business and I should just keep it to myself, but I can't help but to occasionally reach out to a seller to politely inform them of the actual fee arrangement. I figure that it doesn't do any harm, and I try not to be rude about it. I have only done it a couple of times in the past.

So, I sent jhalb a message just to let him know, not to start an argument or anything. Here is what ensued:

This response was completely disproportionate, and I think speaks negatively to the character of the seller. That is why I'm posting it here. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to do business with someone who snaps at people like a maniac and refuses to reasonably respond to questions about why he's asking for a higher PayPal fee than actually exists.

I'm right here my friend. You have been reported for harassment. How dare you come to me in a PM and begin telling me how to sell my knives. I'll bet I'm not the only one you have done this to. What is the matter, do you have to much time on your hands? I've got nothing to hide and am probably the most honest seller here.
 
Strange response indeed. I've never looked into Paypal business account rates, but the logical thing to me would be...higher volume of sales = cheaper rates. Maybe I'm just clueless as well.
 
All I know is that the last time I did goods and services and only had the buyer add 3 percent it was not enough. It was closer to 4%. So, at 3.5% the buyer was actually getting a small break.
 
PP fee is 2.9% + $0.30.

Most people have their listing at add 4%, but regardless, I just ignore anyone who can't do simple math and put a price together TYD.
I worry about how they will be able to find a post office....

Edit:

The fee could be as high as 3.9% if you are outside of N.A, depending on the currency.

Ok, so what we have here is someone who actually has very little control in his own life so he comes here to blade forums and begins trying to find some control or meaning in his life. What a joke BranCron, afraid its on you though not me. I'm just a member here like everyone else selling knives occasionally and you need to come in and stir up the pot. Well, you stirred up the pot and you've been reported. Leave me and the rest of the sellers alone.

My question is, is there a reason you only offer first class shipping only????
I did see one of the knives you had listed, when I saw first class shipping, I passed it up. The price for the knife was fair and would have bought it had Priority Mail been offered.
 
This whole thread doesn't really make any sense to me...

There are really no rules around any of what's being discussed here, and we might as well drag half the members on this forum on here for similar "issues"

While I don't like it, the best way to deal with it is to ignore it, and purchase from members who you don't feel have inappropriate terms.
 
Let me guess, your probably one of those guys who tells his neighbor that his car is parked slightly in front of your house out in the street? Your neighbors probably laugh at you when they see you. Yes everyone!! I have a TEMPER!! But, I sell very good quality knives, matter of fact I have one knife right now that I'm selling that is just fantastic! And, I have two of the Noctigon flashlights left, they are incredible. So, take a look if you want and don't let this post be a wasted read.

To be honest it's the dudes thread and he can ask whatever he wants for his item, PayPal fees and whatever else he wants to charge. If you don't like any of them just don't buy it and move along. I don't think the OP needs to be BLadeForums "fees conscience" and go around telling people what to ask or charge. Could the dude have came back it's a more polite reply? Sure. But sometimes if you don't mind your own business it can sorta come back and bite you.
 
Good and fair question. I can ship a knife anywhere in the US for about $3.50 and it usually gets to you in the same time as priority.

That's just some of that ol' "net to me" confusion. The rate is 2.9% + $0.30 of the "gross" amount, not the "net" amount. Again...too confusing :confused:
 
Well, I'll apologize for my tone. It was unprofessional and it is not who I am. Some people just get under my skin when I realize why they are doing what they are doing. It has nothing to do with my fees. This is a control issue plain and simple of the OP. I exposed it for what it is. Personally? I think the guy can do a lot more harm here than he can do good. I would ban him for his audacity.
 
You kind of get spoiled here I guess. You can buy knives here for much cheaper than anywhere else. Who cares if the seller makes a dollar or two. I sold a ZT0095BW yesterday and I made a whopping $1.62. Now the OP poster would have me not taking that. He wants me to work for free, find good deals for everyone for free.... Maybe there's another forum that sells knives too but I think BF is the largest and most competent. I love the hard and fast rules here, a lot. No garbage, well at least mostly....lol
 
So are we just making threads about whatever and whoever bothers us now. Most of us have enough common sense to avoid the bad apples. I don't look at threads with add this and that for shipping, PayPal etc although I rarely purchase anything these days.. But cmon.
The gbu is turning into a whiny area when it has a far more important role in helping us. This coming from someone that gives a killer deal with all fees and shipping included , almost every time I sold something.

Now I will mind my own business like usual.

I agree, just move on if you don't like the prices no need to PM the guy.
